Samsung phones have a clever new hidden feature you won’t find on any iPhone
Samsung’s Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ are easily the company’s most exciting new flagship smartphones in years. Samsung’s devastating decline in sales last year was due in large part to the release of three of the most boring new smartphones the South Korean giant has ever made. The Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 all looked almost identical to their predecessors, and they offered no novel new features whatsoever. There was absolutely no reason to buy one to upgrade from an earlier Samsung phone, and so most people chose to skip them. The company’s earnings plummeted as a result, so it was clear that Samsung would really have to up its game in 2019 if it hoped to reverse course.
Thankfully, the company came through big time right out of the gate in 2019. The Galaxy S10 series features a bold new design that people love. It ditches the big bezels from Samsung’s earlier smartphones and replaces them with an all-screen design that places the front-facing cameras inside the display itself. This new “hole-punch” design instantly won over fans, and sales have reportedly been terrific so far, which could be due in part to the fact that Samsung’s biggest rival Apple pulled a “Galaxy S9” of its own this year. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max offer no compelling new features whatsoever compared to the iPhone X from 2017, so Apple fans haven’t exactly been knocking down doors to upgrade. While it’s not exactly an Earth-shattering addition, smartphone shoppers who opted for a Galaxy phone over Apple’s latest iPhones now have another reason to be happy thanks to a very clever hidden feature the company just introduced.

Galaxy S10 5G speed tests show Verizon’s 5G network is getting faster and faster
The Galaxy S10 5G smartphone is now available from Verizon, which means you’ll soon be able to test out the carrier’s 5G network assuming you reside in one of the first Verizon 5G markets. We’ve already seen early tests performed on the Moto Z3 with 5G Moto Mod, and they showed how incredible 5G will be compared to 4G, even if it’s barely hitting the real 5G speeds we want, and even if the coverage is still unsatisfying. Verizon’s 5G network is apparently getting better and better, new speed tests performed on the Galaxy S10 5G show.

New study says processed foods make us crave more calories
What is healthy when it comes to food? That’s a question that many people struggle to answer on a daily basis around the world. How much sugar, fat, carbs, and salt our bodies need has been the topic of debate for, well, pretty much forever, and constantly-shifting nutritional guidelines aren’t making things any easier to understand.
Calories are, of course, the biggest factor in how much weight a person loses or gains, but how we get those calories can vary dramatically from person to person. Now, a new study suggests that eating so-called “ultra-processed” foods may be fueling the obesity epidemic and contributing to overeating across the board.

I can’t believe this Taco Bell hotel and resort is a real thing
The newest creation that Taco Bell has cooked up is something the fast food chain is describing, with great fanfare in an official announcement today, as a “tacoasis.” No, it’s not some new menu item that’s going to clog your arteries and make you question certain life choices. It’s actually a reference to the forthcoming Taco Bell Hotel — a very real hotel and resort the company is planning to open in August in Palm Springs, Calif.
It will have a gift shop with Taco Bell-themed clothes. A salon that offers Taco Bell-inspired nail art, plus Taco Bell-inspired rooms. And no, just as a reminder, today is not April 1.

Watch SpaceX try to launch 60 satellites tonight after yesterday’s scrub
SpaceX originally planned on launching its Starlink mission on Wednesday night, reserving a solid 1.5-hour launch window for its Falcon 9 to take off, and eventually deploy a whopping 60 tiny satellites into Earth orbit. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions that were less than ideal, the launch was scrubbed and the mission had to be pushed back.
The good news is that the rescheduled launch window happens to be tonight, and if all goes well we’ll get to see SpaceX launch its suite of satellites sometime between 10:30 p.m. EDT and midnight. You can watch the launch live right here.

The 5 most popular Netflix original movies of 2019 so far
Netflix gets a lot of attention and media coverage for the original TV series it commissions and licenses, including projects like Stranger Things and The Crown. As the second syllable of its name indicates, though, movies have always been a core of the service, with Netflix increasingly wanting to make a strong showing at the Oscars — and even eventually claim a “Best Picture” golden statuette for one of its original movies.
Netflix is definitely stepping up its game in this regard, with titles on the way this year including The Irishman. That’s Martin Scorsese’s $140 million picture about the story of a mob hitman and his relation to the disappearance of union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and it will be Netflix’s first wide-release feature. But while that one still doesn’t have a release date yet, although it’s attracted plenty of critical attention, these are some of the most popular movies on the service you can watch right now.

NASA just spotted the crash site of Israel’s Beresheet lander
April was supposed to be an exciting time for Israel’s privately-funded space group SpaceIL. After years of development, SpaceIL’s Beresheet lander was poised to land on the lunar surface, which would have been a first for the country as well as the first privately-funded mission to touch down on Earth’s satellite.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and a malfunction in the spacecraft’s engine caused the entire ship to shut down just moments before it was to land. A rapid restart of the craft brought it back online but it was already speeding towards the surface and a crash was unavoidable. Now, thanks to NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we can see exactly where the doomed craft ended up and, well, it’s not a pretty sight.

The US government just delivered its biggest blow yet to Huawei
It’s no secret that the US government isn’t fond of Huawei, currently the second largest smartphone maker on the planet. The US has often criticized Huawei for its alleged ties with the Chinese government, and citing security concerns, it effectively banned the sale of Huawei smartphone in the country and advised allies not to procure Huawei networking equipment for cellular infrastructure investments, with particular focus on 5G.
But this week, the Trump administration just made its most important move against Huawei yet.
