Plants are doing their best to save mankind, but they can’t do it alone

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We humans are great at a number of things and very, very bad at several others. For example, we’re pretty terrible when it comes to managing our waste and cleaning up after ourselves and, on a related note, we’re really good at producing carbon as a result of burning various fuels for energy. In fact, we just hit a rather frightening new milestone in our CO2 emissions, and scientists universally agree that the planet is warming as a result.

We need to do better, clearly, but we’re not in this alone. A new study published in Trends in Plant Science reveals that Mother Earth is prepared to join us in the fight to clean things up, and plants worldwide are already working overtime to offset the carbon we can’t stop spewing out.

A camera phone that puts Samsung and Apple to shame now has 5G, too – but it’s banned in the US

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Verizon just launched the Galaxy S10 5G, but Samsung is hardly the only company putting out 5G smartphones this year. International carriers have also started rolling out 5G networks and compatible smartphones, and UK carriers are the latest ones to prepare for their 5G launches. However, one of the first phones to deliver 5G experiences in Britain is a device that you’ll have a hard time scoring in the States, even if you just want the older 4G version. That’s because it’s made by Huawei, the Chinese company the US government has just targeted with additional punitive measures.

The V10 is the best cordless Dyson money can buy, and it’s never been cheaper

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Dyson recently released the V11 cordless vacuum, and it’s great… but there are two big problems with it. First, it costs as much as $700, which is insane. Second, it’s not really a new vacuum — it’s just a V10 with a tiny little LCD screen that shows battery life. But when you consider the fact that the V10 lasts for an hour on a single charge, why on Earth would you need a battery indicator? Save yourself some serious cash and skip the V11, especially today when all three V10 models are on sale at their lowest prices ever. The $500 Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead is down to $340, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal is on sale for $400 when you clip the $49.99 coupon on the product page, and the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is only $514 today instead of $700!

SpaceX was forced to delay its Starlink mission yet again, but for a different reason

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: SpaceX was planning on launching a suite of 60 communications satellites last night but it was forced to scrub the mission and push it to a later date. That should probably sound familiar since that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday evening, and then again last night.

Wednesday night’s delay was weather-related, with less-than-ideal high level winds that made a rocket launch particularly risky. SpaceX did the smart thing and pushed the launch to the following day in the same time window, but things fell apart for an entirely different reason.

Petition begs Disney to stop ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners from ruining ‘Star Wars’ too

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

At the time of this writing, nearly 800,000 Game of Thrones fans had signed a Change.org petition asking HBO to remake season 8 “with competent writers.” Petition talk started as a joke but quickly picked up steam, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see even more people sign it. After all, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff still have one more episode of Game of Thrones left that we have to suffer through — and we already know what happens next. It turns out that’s not the only petition against D&D out there though, as some people want Disney to prevent the duo from ruining Star Wars too.
