New leak may confirm the most controversial part of Apple’s iPhone 11 redesign

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are so many exciting new smartphones set to be released in the coming months. The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro are both due in August, Samsung’s horrible Galaxy Fold may also launch soon with a slightly less horrible design, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL that Google just unveiled 4 months early is set to hit store shelves in October, and there are several other new smartphones that will debut between now and the end of 2019. As is always the case, however, no upcoming smartphones have managed to stir up hype that comes anywhere close to matching Apple’s iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R (or whatever Apple ends up calling them).

We’ve seen countless leaks and rumors that suggest Apple’s upcoming next-generation smartphone lineup will feature a design that is almost identical to its previous-generation iPhone lineup. There is one big visual difference between last year’s iPhones and the new iPhone 11 series, however, and it has managed to stir up a ton of controversy already, despite the fact that Apple’s new iPhone 11 lineup hasn’t even been unveiled yet so nothing can be confirmed. Unfortunately for Apple fans who don’t like this particular new design element, a new leak is as close to a confirmation as we’ve come so far.

The best-looking foldable phone of 2019 was delayed to September, and it’s the Galaxy Fold’s fault

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Earlier this week, AT&T canceled Galaxy Fold preorders in the US, joining Samsung and Best Buy which did the same thing a few weeks earlier. The move signaled that Samsung is nowhere near ready to relaunch the handset. The Galaxy Fold suffered from a few manufacturing issues that killed the display, and Samsung had to postpone the launch and deploy fixes that would prevent the screen issues. But there’s an unexpected side-effect that’s beneficial to Samsung, the best looking foldable phone of the year was delayed to September because of what happened to the Galaxy Fold so far.

Pixel 4 will look so much better than the Pixel 3, and we have a new render to prove it

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google did something completely unexpected earlier this week, it released on Twitter a teaser image of the Pixel 4, practically confirming some of the most recent Pixel leaks out there. The phone won’t be out for another four months, but Google changed the leaks game by showing the world what it’s been working on lately — and Google had three prototypes in the lab according to recent reports. Google, however, only showed us the back of the phone, but we have credible information about the phone’s screen design as well, so we think we already know what to expect from the Pixel 4 phone. And a brand new render based on these latest developments shows how beautiful the phone will look like compared to last year’s Pixel 3 phones.

Jupiter’s Europa is seriously salty

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Of all the places in our solar system (besides Earth, of course), Jupiter’s moon Europa might have the best chance of hosting life. Scientists studying the planet are intrigued by its massive ocean of liquid water hiding beneath a thick icy shell, and it’s possible that life is lurking there, too.

Now, a new research paper reveals that the colossal ocean isn’t just liquid water, it’s salty liquid water, making it potentially even more like Earth’s oceans than we originally thought. The study was published in the journal Science Advances.

Huawei’s Android replacement is one step closer to becoming a reality

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei is getting closer, it seems, to the day when it will begin relying on a Plan B mobile operating system to replace the reliance it’s enjoyed up to this point on Google’s Android, which the Chinese consumer electronics giant is in danger of losing access to soon thanks to US sanctions.

As far as what form Huawei’s back-up OS will take, when it will roll out and where — those details are still a bit sketchy. However, the company has begun trademarking its “Hongmeng” operating system in at least nine countries, as well as Europe, which could be read as a sign that plans for the company’s much-speculated-about Android replacement are starting to firm up.

‘When They See Us’ has been Netflix’s biggest show for two weeks straight

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Netflix has historically shied away from divulging viewership figures or any type of ratings information for its ever-growing stable of original programming. Recently, though, the streaming giant has become a little bit more open about which shows its millions of subscribers are watching. Just last month, for example, Netflix released its first-ever Top 10 list detailing the most-watched shows in the UK.

Earlier this week, Netflix also revealed that the recently released miniseries When They See Us has been the most watched show on the streaming platform in the US every single day since its release on May 31.

NASA’s Cassini reveals more detail in Saturn’s rings

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA’s Cassini mission officially ended way back in 2017. It was then that the spacecraft plunged into Saturn, destroying itself in a blaze of glory, but the incredible wealth of data it sent back during its life is still being studied and, as a new paper published in Science reveals, it still has some secrets to share.

In a new blog post, NASA highlights some of the interesting new findings that scientists are discovering in Cassini’s data. Specifically, the spacecraft’s observations are yielding new detail on the structure of Saturn’s iconic rings, as well as the dramatic differences from one ring to the next.

Microsoft isn’t planning for Project Scarlett to be the last Xbox console

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Before the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launched in 2013, there was some speculation about whether or not there would be another console generation in the traditional sense. With everything going digital, would Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo still feel the need to launch a physical box every 5-10 years?

The answer was a resounding yes, as the PS4 and Xbox One have combined to sell well over 100 million units, and the Switch has already surpassed the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 64. Furthermore, both Sony and Microsoft have already confirmed that they will launch new home consoles in the near future. Microsoft even announced a holiday 2020 release window for Project Scarlett at E3… but the question lingers. Is this the end of consoles?
