Being an astronaut is a dangerous profession by default. Groups like NASA always put safety at the forefront of their various off-world missions, but accidents happen when you’re breaking new ground in space. As hype builds for the 50th anniversary of the very first Apollo Moon landing, everyone is taking a look back at those incredible missions, including some of the astronauts that spent time on the lunar surface.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke recalls one of the more harrowing moments of his brief stay on the Moon. An unfortunate tumble put Duke’s life in jeopardy at the worst possible moment, and he ultimately had only himself to blame.

The proliferation of end-to-end encryption services has been fantastic for end users and for privacy, but it has also been a huge problem for intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Ironically, it’s the Snowden revelations from a few years ago that shined light on the far-reaching powers of the NSA and its partners when it comes to mass-surveillance operations, thus pushing more tech companies to create chat and voice apps that are end-to-end encrypted. The US government is still unsure of what to do about the phenomenon, and it’s actually going as far as to consider legislation that would ban end-to-end encryption.

The Boeing 737 Max saga continues with a new development that’s not good news for Boeing. There’s a new software issue that Boeing has to fix, which was discovered during recent FAA testing with the platform. There’s no telling when the fix will be deployed, or when the 737 Max will be certified safe for flying again. As of right now, airlines have extended cancellations well into the summer and early fall.
