And that’s an issue that plagued a variety of MacBook models ever since Apple introduced the new butterfly keyboard on the first-gen MacBook in 2015. However, Apple is finally fixing the issue for good, starting with the 2019 MacBook Air refresh, which is getting a new scissor switch keyboard. Samsung’s in hot water for allegedly misleading customers about water-resistant Galaxy phones

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is taking Samsung to court in the country, alleging that the Korean company has been lying to Australian consumers for years about the water-resistant capabilities of several Galaxy phones. The ACCC says that Samsung presented hundreds of advertisements in the country since February 2016, misleading customers in the process about what they can and can not do with water-resistant Galaxy phones, including Galaxy S and Note devices.

Scientists built a new type of artificial gravity that could help keep astronauts healthy

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Heading into space means leaving Earth’s gravity behind. Astronauts floating around on the International Space Station might look like they’re having fun in the weightless environment, but a lack of gravity can actually be a serious detriment when it comes to long-term health.

Now, researchers from the CU Boulder have designed what they say could be the first step towards artificial gravity devices installed in spacecraft for the benefit of human travelers during deep space missions. The gadget — a large, table-sized spinning machine — may well be a glimpse into the future.

Amazon keeps all of your Alexa voice recordings until you manually delete them

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Have you ever wondered what happens to all of the voice commands you issue your Amazon Echo? Where do they go? Do they evaporate into thin air once your Echo has responded? Does Amazon hold on to them for an indefinite amount of time? I’ll stop there, because the answer to that last question is apparently “yes.”

On Wednesday, Amazon issued a response to a series of questions posed by Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware) in May. Coons was concerned about Amazon’s privacy and data security practices for Alexa devices, and one specific answer he received was troublesome enough to make headlines all over the internet.

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’re still about a year away from the launch of the Mars 2020 mission, but NASA’s shiny new rover is rapidly taking shape already. The rover, which is far more advanced than any machine NASA has ever sent to the Red Planet, just received what NASA calls a “Super Instrument” in the form of an all-in-one camera, laser, and spectrometer unit.

The tool, called SuperCam, is the natural evolution of the ChemCam installed on the Curiosity rover which is currently in use on Mars. A new post on NASA’s website explains why the instrument is so vital to the Mars 2020 mission, and how it could teach scientists some very important things about Earth’s neighbor.
