This video is our best look yet at Apple’s leaked iPhone 11R design

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ are scheduled to be unveiled less than four weeks from now, and Huawei’s powerful new Mate 30 Pro will launch soon as well. Google’s upcoming Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are already generating some buzz, and we may have just seen the Pixel 4 leak in its first real-life photo. OnePlus undoubtedly plans to launch a OnePLus 7T Pro before the year is done, and the first smartphones with invisible under-display selfie cameras will be shown off in China this year as well. Yet despite all of these debuts that are brewing from Android phone makers, Apple’s new iPhone 11 series is still enjoying the lion’s share of the buzz.

Apple isn’t even planning a huge upgrade this year, despite moving from an “S” iPhone to a brand new generation. Instead, the iPhone 11 series is shaping up to be more like the iPhone 7 series, which was basically an “iPhone 6ss.” The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R will look just like their predecessors from the front, and they’ll be almost the same around back. The exception, of course, is the huge new square camera bump that will be on all three new iPhone 11 models. You know, the one everyone is whinging and whining about despite the fact that they’ll forget all about it within a few weeks of the phone’s release — just like the notch.

Leak reveals this upcoming new Android will have a far more daring design than the Galaxy Note 10

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Galaxy Note 10 will be the first Android flagship to launch in the second half of the year, beating its rivals by at least a couple of months. But October will bring us a bunch of exciting new Android handsets, including the Pixel 4 and the Mate 30 Pro. The latter will launch regardless of whether the Huawei ban stays in place or not, and might run Huawei’s own version of Android in China, according to recent reports. More importantly, considering what Huawei did with the Mate 20 Pro last year, the Mate 30 Pro is expected to deliver a bunch of features that might not be available on other devices. One of them will concern the phone’s design, as the Mate 30 Pro is expected to deliver a more daring screen than the Note 10.

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We know everything there is to know about the Galaxy Note 10 at this point, at least when it comes to design and specs. Everything leaked well ahead of the August 7th press conference, which is what usually happens with Samsung’s flagships. A new report from a trusted leaker reveals one of the remaining Note 10 secrets: its sky-high price. Yes, the phone is going to be expensive, but you absolutely shouldn’t care about any of that.

Samsung’s second try at the Galaxy Fold may have just been spotted in the wild

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Manufacturing is supposedly underway, finally, for Samsung’s second try at the Galaxy Fold smartphone that failed so spectacularly its April launch had to be scuttled. There have been sporadic reports that Samsung hasn’t given up on wanting to make another go at releasing its first foldable handset — that components will soon start shipping, with a release expected closer to the end of the year.

In yet another sign the company seems to be serious about another try, it seems that public testing may be happening now, with a Galaxy Fold having been spotted in the wild.

These tiny robots tackle tasks in groups, just like insects

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

On its own, a single ant can only accomplish so much, but you toss it into the mix with a couple hundred of its peers and suddenly the capabilities of the group are exponentially greater than the sum of its parts. Could the same be true of robots?

Some robotics researchers think so, and a team from Switzerland is already experimenting with an army of pint-sized bots that can take on complicated tasks as a group. The robots, called simply “Tribots,” are tiny foldable, flexible machines that think and move as a group, solving problems that would normally take the power of a much larger robot.

eBay says Prime Day is mostly deals on ‘random stuff nobody really wants’

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

eBay is bringing the heat this year as part of its rivalry with Amazon ahead of the latter’s two-day Prime Day 2019, which will offer Amazon Prime subscribers more than a million deals and kicks off at midnight PT on Monday, July 15.

In a new ad spot that was set to launch Thursday afternoon across eBay’s main social channels, a seeming father and daughter (named Alexa) discuss Amazon’s upcoming sales event. The father asks Alexa what it is and what kind of deals are on offer, a question that Alexa brushes away.

Hubble spots black hole surrounded by material that shouldn’t be there

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Hubble Space Telescope, which is operated by NASA and the ESA, is fantastic for spotting objects residing in the distant reaches of space. Black holes, which are impossible to actually see, give their position away thanks to the galaxies that often surround them, but a new survey has revealed a black hole with a disc of material that, according to what we think we know about black holes, shouldn’t even be there.

The black hole sits at the heart of galaxy NGC 3147, a spiral galaxy sitting a whopping 130 million light-years from Earth. Because of the status of the galaxy, researchers would have guessed that the black hole was essentially starving, but the presence of a material disc throws that assumption into question.

United Arab Emirates spy satellite crashes into the ocean after failed rocket launch

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Military bodies around the world rely on surveillance satellites to help them keep an eye on potential enemies and allies alike. Everyone watches everyone, and you don’t usually hear about the launch of such satellites because they’re both common and not often bragged about by the governments launching them.

The launch of a new Airbus-built spy satellite by the United Arab Emirates would likely have flown well under the news radar as well, if not for the fact that the spacecraft never actually made it into orbit. A rocket failure doomed the satellite and sent it crashing down into the Atlantic Ocean.
