Exclusive: New leak reveals key Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL specs

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google’s Pixel smartphone series has become something of an anomaly in the smartphone market. When it comes to hype, Google’s Pixel phones are always among the most talked-about Android phones when they begin to leak ahead of launch. Pre-launch buzz is par for the course for any unreleased smartphone when leaks start picking up steam, of course. But what’s interesting about Google phones like the upcoming Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is the amount of chatter they stir up.

There is so much hype surrounding the Pixel 4 series but when it comes to sales, Google’s Pixel smartphones are barely a blip on the radar. Apple’s iPhones, Samsung’s Galaxy flagships, and Huawei’s high-end handsets sell by the millions all over the world. Meanwhile, Google’s Pixel phones have always been a big disappointment when it comes to sales, and things are actually getting worse, not better. “Hardware results reflect lower year-on-year sales of Pixel, reflecting in part heavy promotional activity industry-wide given some of the recent pressures in the premium smartphone market,” Google CFO Ruth Porat said on the company’s first-quarter earnings call back in April. That’s right, the Pixel 3 series is actually selling worse than the Pixel 2 series, which itself didn’t sell very well according to estimates.

Will the Pixel 4 be the big break Google is looking for?

Best Acoustic Instruments for Kids

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There’s no better way to nurture your children’s creativity than getting them into the world of music. No one’s saying that your son has to be a cool guy rock star or your daughter has to be the next Janis Joplin, but there’s really no harm in letting your kids flex their musical talents, even if they’re not particularly good at it. For most kids, acoustic instruments tend to do the trick. They’re easy to use, inexpensive, and above all else, fun. If you’re struggling with options, we got you covered. Let’s go through some of the best acoustic instruments for the young ones. You can thank us later.

Best Guitar for Toddlers

It’s almost as if everybody wants to play the guitar these days. It’s a musical staple, so to speak. If your kids want to learn to rock at an early age, you should consider getting them this Sized Classical Guitar For Toddlers from Hohner Accordions. As you can see from its name, it is half the size of a regular guitar (30.5 x 17.5 x 4.5 inches), which makes it a much more practical instrument for your small child to learn on. Despite its small size, it mirrors a regular-sized guitar perfectly with its sturdy wooden build and classic nylon strings. And on a side note, there’s a one-year warranty in the event your kid is a little too rough with the instrument at first.

Best Guitar for Kids

If your child wants to start a little later in life, you should get them something a little bigger, like this 38in Beginner Acoustic Guitar Starter Kit from Best Choice Products. As opposed to the half-sized guitar for small children, this one is around 3/4th the size of a typical guitar. Between its wood design, 19 frets, steel strings, and aesthetically-pleasing finish, this looks every bit like a regular right-handed guitar, other than, of course, its slightly smaller size. You can get the guitar in a variety of colors: blue, black, brown, pink, and beige, and it also comes with a case, strap, digital e-tuner, pick, pitch pipe, and extra strings, making it a great choice for a young guitar player’s first acoustic instrument.

Best Ukulele for Kids

The guitar isn’t for everyone — especially young children who can get easily frustrated. If you want to get them something smaller and less structured, you can always opt for this Kid’s Wooden Toy Ukulele from Hape. This ukulele is the perfect starter instrument for kids just getting into music. It’s compact, sturdy, and easily tunable, and best of all, it can serve as a tool to teach your child basic rhythm, strumming, and standard music techniques. If you’re worried a guitar might be too much for your little tike, you should definitely consider getting them a little ukulele like this one.

Samsung announces ultra-fast 12GB LPDDR5 RAM ahead of Galaxy Note 10 – but we have some bad news

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung a few months ago launched several Galaxy S10 options including a Galaxy S10+ model that ships with as much as 12GB of RAM onboard. That seems like overkill for a smartphone, but Samsung will continue to make phones with 12GB of memory, and supply 12GB modules to other handset vendors. The company on Thursday announced that it’s ready to begin mass production of the world’s first 12Gb LPDDR5 DRAM module which will power new 12GB RAM packages.

Pixel 3 phones are $300 cheaper if you buy them on Google Fi right now

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you missed out on the Prime Day 2019 phone deals that included a Pixel 3 sale, then we have great news for you, as long as you’re still interested in Google’s latest flagship. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were discounted by $260 earlier this week, which already sounds like a great deal, and a great reason not to buy the Pixel 3a over the Pixel 3. But Google is now ready to cut an extra $40 on both phones, which will let you save a total of $300 on either the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

NASA’s TESS exoplanet hunter is apparently also good at spotting supernovas

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA’s TESS (which stands for Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) is built to spot undetected planets orbiting distant stars. I mean, it’s right there in the name, so you can imagine it’s a rather specialized piece of equipment. That being said, the spacecraft is apparently also adept at spotting stars in the midst of blowing their tops.

In a new paper published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, researchers explain how TESS helped them investigate a longstanding mystery regarding a very specific type of supernova.

Apple explores the possibility of manufacturing AirPods in Vietnam

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple has long made a habit out of diversifying its supply chain whenever possible, which is why it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the company is poised to begin a trial production of next-gen AirPods in Vietnam.

According to a report from the Nikkei Asian Review, Apple has tasked its manufacturing partner Goertek with handling the initial trial run. The move marks a bit of a departure from the current setup wherein AirPods production is handled in China. At this point, it remains unclear if the upcoming production run in Vietnam will focus on the current AirPods 2 or on AirPods 3 which may launch before 2020.

The European Space Agency just updated its massive galaxy map

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Back in early 2018, the European Space Agency released the second phase of Milky Way mapping data collected by the agency’s Gaia satellite. With a variety of tools that allow scientists and even casual space fans to browse an immense amount of data, it was a very big deal in for both professional and amateur astronomers.

However, it’s really just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, and the Gaia project team will continue to update the map data in the years to come. In the meantime, researchers combining the data from Gaia with sky survey data using other instruments have been able to peer through some of the dust and debris obscuring star positions to increase the accuracy of the Gaia data.

‘The Lion King’ is dividing critics, but set for a massive opening weekend anyway

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Box office prognosticators can already feel the love for the Jon Favreau-directed remake of The Lion King that’s set to hit theaters this weekend.

Estimates for how well this photorealistic, CGI-heavy reimagining of the Disney animated classic could do when it first arrives on the big screen are ranging from an impressive $150 million on the low end up to as high as $180 million. That’s according to Variety, which also notes that hopes are high the film will revive a box office that’s been somewhat moribund of late — despite the fact that the movie is already dividing critics and early reviewers in the lead-up to the release.
