Apple has yet to fix a mysterious iMessage bug spotted by Google researchers
Next week in Las Vegas at the Black Hat security conference, Google Project Zero researcher Natalie Silvanovich is set to give a presentation about interactionless iPhone vulnerabilities that can run without the victim taking any action at all. The talk will come on the heels of Silvanovich and a Google Project Zero colleague, Samuel Groß, discovering half a dozen iOS vulnerabilities that can be exploited via iMessage — although five of those flaws, according to ZDNet, were fixed with last week’s iOS 12.4 update.
However, Apple has as of the time of this writing apparently not yet completely fixed the final bug. The iOS 12.4 release actually patched all six flaws, but according to Silvanovich, the release didn’t fully resolve the sixth flaw, which is consequently being kept under wraps for now.

Sony says PS4 and PS5 prices could go up if US continues China tariffs
You may not yet have personally felt the impact of the tariffs the US has placed on China, but if you plan on picking up a PlayStation 5 when it launches next year, you may want to hold out hope that they are lifted by then. According to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki said that the retail price of PlayStation consoles will rise if the US government opts to impose a higher tariff on Chinese-made video game machines.
Totoki said the following in regards to the potential tariffs: “We believe, and therefore have told the U.S. government, that higher tariffs would ultimately damage the U.S. economy.”

Apple posts Q3 earnings: Revenue hits $53.8 billion
As far as Apple’s earnings are concerned, the June quarter isn’t necessarily exciting in and of itself. After all, the quarter doesn’t encapsulate the always-busy holiday shopping season or the back-to-school rush where students shell out cash for new iPads and Macs. Still, as one of the more valuable companies on the planet, the vibrancy of Apple’s business over the past 3 months can often telegraph whether Apple seems to be gaining steam or losing traction in the market place.
All that said, Apple today released its earnings report for the recent quarter and posted revenue of $53.8 billion and EPS of $2.18. In contrast, Apple during the same quarter a year-ago posted revenue of $53.2 billion and EPS of $2.34. Analysts on Wall Street, meanwhile, were anticipating revenue to fall in the $53 billion range and EPS of about $2.10

Scientists move one step closer to explaining why Komodo dragons are so awesome
Komodo dragons are incredible animals. They’re lizards, but they have a number of unique tweaks to their chemistry that gives them advantages often only seen in mammals. To figure out how these large predators arrived at their current state, researchers dove into their genes.
The study, which was published in Nature Ecology & Evolution, reveals that Komodo dragons get their unique abilities thanks to specific genetic adaptations. By comparing the genome of the dragons with other similar species, scientists now have a much better idea of what specific genetic quirks are responsible for the traits shared by the species.

Dragon Quest’s Hero joins ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ roster today
Nearly two months after Nintendo unveiled the second and third paid DLC fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at E3 2019, one is ready to join the fight. On Tuesday, Nintendo announced that the Hero from the Dragon Quest series would be added to the roster before the end of the day. In addition to wielding a sword and shield, the Dragon Quest protagonist can also cast spells to turn the tide in battle.
Hero is also unique in that rather than simply changing outfits or color schemes, you can choose to play as four of the main characters from throughout Dragon Quest franchise history: Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest VIII, and the newly-released Dragon Quest XI, which just arrived on Switch.
