It was just a few days ago that SpaceX shot one of its Dragon cargo ships into space, and it was packed with supplies for the crew of the International Space Station. Now, Russia has done the same with its Progress 73 cargo vessel, only this time it arrived much more rapidly.

The spacecraft, which was sent skyward atop a Russian Soyuz rocket, completed two orbits of Earth as it sped towards its destination and made its way from Earth to the space station in just over three hours, which is a breakneck pace.

Henry Cavill wanted to star in ‘The Witcher’ so badly that he bugged Netflix until they said yes

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Netflix fantasy series that’s shaping up to fill the Game of Thrones-sized hole in all our hearts can’t get here fast enough. The first trailer for The Witcher was shown off during Comic-Con and sent expectations soaring even higher — and now it seems the show was so buzzy from the get-go that it apparently generated a mad scramble from actors desperate to land the starring role. The one that ultimately went to Henry Cavill, who will portray the white-haired heroic monster hunter Geralt of Rivia.

In a new interview, he explains how he beat out more than 200 actors for the part and that he basically bugged his agents and Netflix until they finally relented and he won the role.

Equifax doesn’t have enough money to pay 2017 hack victims the $125 they’re owed

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you haven’t applied yet to get your $125 share of the cash payment option as part of the settlement related to credit reporting agency Equifax’s 2017 data breach, the chance that you’ll actually be able to get that full amount is shrinking by the day. Because it turns out that demand for the $125 payment has been so “overwhelming” Equifax is actually running out of money to pay everyone who asks and who has a legitimate claim.

People comment on how awesome this $24 wine opener is every single time I use it

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s kind of weird that you can spend $24 on a little plastic gadget and leave people blown away every single time you take it out, but that’s exactly what happened with the Cork Pop Legacy Wine Bottle Opener. Forget twisting and turning corkscrews and forget fidgeting with levers on those big over-complicated wine openers, here’s how the Legacy works: stick it in the bottle and press the button on top for about one second. Presto, your bottle is open! It shoots a tiny amount of tasteless, odorless CO2 into the bottle and pushes out the cork from the inside. It’s brilliant, and your guests won’t stop talking about it.

Cork Pop Legacy Opener: $23.80

Here’s more info from the product page:

  • Fastest easiest way to open a wine bottle
  • Perfect for old delicate corks
  • Does not accept taste or bouquet
  • Great for those with mobility issues

NASA wants you to come up with a way to send heavy stuff to the Moon

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The NASA of today is a whole lot different than the agency that first sent humans to the Moon. While those projects were almost entirely in-house, today’s NASA relies heavily on commercial partners large and small to make its missions happen. Now, NASA is putting out yet another call for companies that can help it accomplish its goals, and this time around there’s some heavy lifting required.

The agency wants pitches for new technologies that can deliver heavy payloads to the lunar surface. In its call, NASA notes that it needs ways to send “science and technology payloads” to the South Pole of the Moon, and that the companies it chooses will be helping with the Artemis program which will eventually see humans sent to the Moon.

Apple’s market share keeps shrinking as Huawei and Samsung widen the gap

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A year ago today, Strategy Analytics reported that Huawei had finally overtaken Apple to become the world’s second largest smartphone vendor. Twelve months later, Apple has failed to gain any ground, as the latest quarterly analysis from the firm shows both Samsung and Huawei increased their smartphone shipments year-over-year, while iPhone sales dropped more substantially than any of the other major firms in the market.

Taking a step back, it’s worth noting that global smartphone shipments are down year-over-year once again, having dropped from 350.4 million in Q2 2018 to 341.4 million in Q2 2019. That’s a notable dip, but still slightly less severe than the one the industry suffered last year when shipments fell by 10 million.

Video of a dramatic raid on the Seattle home of the Capital One hack suspect by camouflaged FBI agents has just surfaced online, presenting footage of the episode that took place on Monday after agents had finally tracked down the suspect thanks to her bizarre boasting on social media.

The video, shared with Seattle NBC affiliated King 5, was captured via home surveillance cameras by two roommates of the suspect, 33-year-old Paige Thompson. One of her roommates recounted to reporters the moment they heard the FBI command “Open up” and then burst in, clad in “green camo, military-like tactical gear.”

Amazon a few days ago released the first teaser trailer for its TV series adaptation based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe. The teaser that many fans have been waiting for doesn’t deliver what you expect, though. Instead of seeing Middle-Earth adventures and new heroes, we’re treated to the amazing crew behind the camera that will bring those adventures to Amazon’s streaming service. That’s all Amazon has for now, as casting for the show hasn’t even been completed yet. But it turns out that one of the key crew members from the teaser is ready to share more details about Amazon’s LOTR plans.
