Considering we can’t actually see the Milky Way from the outside — since, you know, we’re in it — astronomers know a surprising amount about our home galaxy. They know its overall structure, where we are in it, and what likely lies deep in its heart (spoiler: it’s probably a supermassive black hole).

Now, researchers from the University of Warsaw have created what they believe is the most accurate 3D model of our galaxy to date, and it shows that the Milky Way isn’t nearly as flat as we might imagine it to be. In fact, it’s a warped, weird, wonderful mess.

Huawei chairman Liang Hua at a press conference a few days ago deftly avoided giving a direct answer when asked by a reporter whether the Mate 30, expected in October, will launch with a Huawei-designed mobile operating system if the current US ban stays in place. The ban whose effects have included Google not being allowed to provide Android updates to Huawei going forward, once a temporary reprieve expires later this month.

It goes without saying, but BlackBerry isn’t what it once was. The brand, which now relies on partners to manufacture its devices, has had a tough time sparking interest in its various smartphones. But there are still plenty of people who love having a physical keyboard on their smartphone, and Unihertz — the company that launched a pint-sized 4G Android phone back in 2017 after a successful Kickstarter campaign — sees an opportunity.

The company’s newest effort is called the Titan, and it lives up to its name in a number of ways, not least of which is its size. The phone features a large, backlit QWERTY keyboard that doubles as a trackpad, a 4.5-inch touchscreen, and a beefy design with IP67 water and dust resistance.

Even when making restitution to victims of its massive 2017 data breach, Equifax still can’t seem to avoid a mess. The credit reporting agency is now attracting a ton of scrutiny after the Federal Trade Commission revealed in an urgent announcement to the public that the pool of Equifax settlement funds used to pay cash claims to victims is quickly running dry. And that victims who step up to file a claim going forward should probably just go ahead and pick a non-cash alternative.

Always looking to leverage technology in clever ways, Tesla this past May introduced a new security-oriented feature dubbed Sentry Mode. The feature, as the name somewhat implies, records 360-degree video around a Tesla vehicle whenever a security incident such as an attempted break-in is detected. Though initially designed to catch — if not deter — thieves, the rollout of Sentry Mode has managed to capture a number of individuals slyly trying to scratch Tesla vehicles with their car keys.

The latest example comes to us out of Massachusetts where a Model 3 owner was shocked to see that a man keyed up his car in a Target parking lot for no reason whatsoever. The incident occurred late last week, with the video uploaded to YouTube just a few days later. As detailed in the YouTube description, the Model 3 owner filed a police report and the hope is that the vandal will ultimately be identified and arrested.
