So, is this the iPhone of our dreams?

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung is set to finally put an end to all the leaks and rumors when it announces the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ on Wednesday evening. If you’re an Apple fan, however, your attention is already focused on the future — just over one month into the future, to be exact. That’s when Apple will announce its next-generation iPhone 11 lineup, which will consist of three brand new phones. Well, if we’re being perfectly honest, it’s tough to call the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R “brand new.” Sure they’ll be faster and more powerful than their predecessors, but these next-generation iPhone models look exactly like Apple’s previous-generation iPhone models aside from the redesigned rear camera setup.

Apple will obviously sell tens of millions of iPhone 11 models over the year to come, but the iPhone 11 isn’t really the big iPhone overhaul that fans are waiting for. No, it appears as though the big overhaul is still a couple of years away, but an early report covering Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 suggests that it might finally end up being the iPhone of our dreams.

Disney’s $12.99 streaming bundle is way too good to pass up, but it won’t ‘kill’ rivals

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Disney announced that its streaming service will cost just $5.99 per month once it’s available to customers in November, it became clear that Disney+ is a no-brainer subscription. Even if you’re already paying for other services, which may include Netflix, HBO, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime, to name a few, Disney+ is a substantial addition to your monthly entertainment bill at that price. Disney+ will have a ton of great content sourced from all of Disney’s properties, as well as plenty of original shows that will not hit competing platforms. As an example, Disney+ is already a part of the next major phase of Marvel’s MCU, with several series in development.

But it turns out that that $5.99 monthly subscription isn’t the best that Disney can do. That’s because the company unveiled a subscription option that costs $7 extra but delivers access to Hulu and ESPN+.

Crashed Israeli lunar lander left a bunch of microscopic ‘water bears’ on the Moon

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s been a few months now since Israel’s Beresheet lunar lander experienced a last-second glitch and smashed into the Moon rather than landing softly on it. The mission, while impressive as a privately-funding effort, ultimately came up short, but part of its payload may still fulfill its intended purpose.

Included on the spacecraft was a cellular “library” that includes plant and animal cells and human DNA. It was created by the Arch Mission, which strives to create “backups” of Earth, and the collection of material included on the Beresheet lander contains “enough DNA to regenerate life on Earth,” according to founder Nova Spivack.

Russian TV audiences love American TV shows, especially ‘Game of Thrones’

Russia can’t get enough of America, it seems. Not only does the country love our democratic process so much that it decided to lend a friendly hand during the most recent presidential election, but Russian TV viewers also apparently love American TV shows — with a recent poll identifying Game of Thrones as Russian viewers’ favorite foreign series.

Now, we should point out that it’s not necessarily the favorite by a mile, according to the close results in the Levada Center polling agency’s recent findings.

‘The Matrix’ returns to theaters this month to celebrate its 20th anniversary

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s the summer of Keanu, which means there’s no better time to remind yourself again what pill to chose — that’s the kind of inside The Matrix joke you’ll learn to appreciate only after you’ve seen the 1999 film that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. And that anniversary is, of course, the main reason why The Matrix returns to theaters. Before you ask, this re-release won’t come with any new scenes, nor will it attempt to steal any box office records, which is something we saw happen earlier this year.

North Korea reportedly steals cryptocurrency to bankroll its nuclear program

A confidential U.N. report obtained by Reuters reveals that North Korea has been employing a range of sophisticated cyberattacks in an effort to bankroll its development of weapons of mass destruction.

According to the report, which was compiled by experts over the past few months, North Korea thus far has made upwards of $2 billion via a number of schemes designed to “steal funds from financial institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges.” Though specifics remain a bit murky at the moment, North Korean’s malicious cyber activities reportedly encompass more than 30 independent attacks across 17 countries.

NASA’s Curiosity rover is celebrating seven incredible years on Mars

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Earlier this year, NASA was forced to finally say goodbye to the trust Opportunity rover. It was a sad time for the space agency since the rover had exceeded expectations in every imaginable way, but thankfully it’s not the only rover on the Red Planet. Curiosity, which was launched back in 2011, is still alive and well, and today marks its seventh year of an already impressive campaign.

The rover spent months cruising through space before eventually plummeting to the surface of Mars where it safely landed on August 6th, 2012, and it’s been revealing countless Mars secrets ever since.
