After much speculation, Viacom and CBS are back together once again after 13 years apart. Early this afternoon, the two media companies officially announced plans to merge into a new company dubbed ViacomCBS. Once the merger becomes official, current Viacom CEO Bob Bakish will head up the company.

Spotting a bear on a hiking trail or wandering around your rural back yard can be somewhat frightening, but most of the time they’d just assume ignore your presence entirely. One family in Estes Park, Colorado recently had a run-in with a bear that was not only interested in their home but apparently wanted to rent a room as well.

As local Fox station KDVR reports, the four-legged home invader was determined to entire a local home and eventually succeeded, at which point police were summoned to deal with the situation. When the fuzz arrived, the bear made a dramatic getaway by busting straight through a wall, drawing comparisons to the iconic Kool-Aid Man.

Back in late June, NASA revealed that sensors on its Curiosity rover were returning alarmingly high readings of methane that came seemingly out of nowhere. Determining where that methane came from — and whether the process responsible for it are geological or biological — is now a major area of research for scientists. A new study led by Newcastle University doesn’t offer a definitive answer, but it does bring us one tantalizing step closer.

In a paper published in Scientific Reports, the researchers effectively rule out one possible source of the methane, arguing that, based on observations of wind erosion on Mars, it’s unlikely that the methane is the result of rocks being broken down and releasing the gas into the air.

When Nintendo first announced that its online subscription service for the Switch would include a growing selection of free NES games, Nintendo fans got excited. After all, unlike the $60 yearly subscriptions that Sony and Microsoft offer for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch Online costs $20 a year, so free games were just a bonus. But it wasn’t long before customers realized there simply weren’t that many NES games worth playing.

At this point, Nintendo Switch Online features more than 40 NES games, and while some of them are classics, many are completely forgettable.
