New hands-on video gets up close and personal with Apple’s leaked iPhone 11 designs
If recent rumors turn out to be correct and Apple really is revamping its iPhone naming scheme in 2019, the new names Apple chose are questionable at best. At the same time, this will finally be the proper system for its iPhone names. The “iPhone 11” will be the update to Apple’s current iPhone XR, according to the reports, and that actually makes a lot of sense. The iPhone XR is the most affordable iPhone model, and it’s the main phone that the majority of Apple’s customers buy. According to estimates, the iPhone XR has been the best-selling current-generation iPhone model ever since it was first released.
Alongside the new iPhone, there will apparently be two “Pro” models called the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. It’s obviously not a huge deal, but I hate these names. There is nothing “pro” about any of Apple’s iPhones, in the same way there’s nothing “pro” about Apple’s iPad Pro models. They’re not professional-grade, they’re meant for consumers. But hey, words don’t mean anything anyway when it comes to Apple’s marketing. And “iPhone 11 Pro Max”? Really? Isn’t “Promax” a protein bar or something? Sheesh.
Whether or not Apple’s 2019 iPhone lineup ends up being named the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, we know that there are indeed three new iPhone models coming this year. We also know even more about them now than we just a few days ago thanks to a huge leak that included several surprising new revelations. Reading about Apple’s iPhone 11 lineup is one thing though, and seeing it is another. That’s why Apple fans everywhere should definitely check out a new video that just hit YouTube.

New study finds that breathing in polluted cities is just as bad as smoking
By now we all know how devastating a heavy smoking habit can be for our overall health, but the air wafting around your neighborhood might not be all that much better. A new study focusing on the air quality of major cities, and the dangers of specific air pollutants, suggests that just breathing the outdoor air in major metropolitan areas may carry the same risks as a substantial cigarette habit.
The study, which was published in JAMA, notes that while emphysema is typically linked to cigarette smoking, it’s also not entirely uncommon in people who have never smoked. To determine why that is, the researchers observed air pollution readings from six highly-populated areas and compared those levels with the increases in emphysema over a ten-year period ending in 2018.

Forget the Galaxy Note 10, this is what phones with waterfall displays should really look like
The Galaxy Note 10’s design is hardly going to be the most exciting all-screen design of the year, especially if you’re in the market for phones with curved edges. Samsung’s display features a conservative screen curvature meant to reduce the phone’s bezels without compromising the screen’s integrity. But some of Samsung’s main rivals are going to launch phones with waterfall display designs in the coming months, or screens with extreme curvatures. At least three Chines smartphone makers, including Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo will use the exciting new screen design in upcoming phones, and one of them just released new teaser images of the design.

Huge iPhone 11 leak reveals surprising new details no one expected
In all likelihood, we’re now less than one month away from Apple’s big press conference at which it will finally unveil the iPhone 11 series. Now believed to be named the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max (ugh), Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup is expected to be announced on either September 10th or September 11th. Where did we come up with those potential dates for Apple’s big iPhone 11 event? An executive at one of Apple’s premier wireless carrier partners slipped up and revealed that the iPhone 11 series will be released on Friday, September 20th. Apple always announces its new iPhones about a week and a half before they’re released, and then preorders should open on the following Friday, which in this case falls on September 13th. In other words, if you want to make sure you have the new iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro model of your choice on launch day, you can already set an alarm for 12:00 AM PT on the 13th and get ready for the drill Apple fans know all too well.
Since we’re so close to Apple’s big iPhone 11 announcement, tons of information about the new smartphone series has already leaked. We know that this year’s iPhone 11 models are going to look exactly like the iPhone XS series from last year on the front, and then the back will have a new square camera bump. The entry-level iPhone 11 will sport a dual-lens rear camera in that big square bump, while the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will feature a triple-lens camera. We know plenty more about Apple’s upcoming new iPhones as well, but a big new leak may have just revealed several surprising details that no one was expecting.

The only foldable smartphone worth buying in 2019 has been delayed to November, and we have no idea why
It’s mid-August of 2019, and foldable phones are still not available in stores. Sure, they’d be very expensive, starting at least twice the price of the Galaxy Note 10+ or iPhone XS, but they should have been selling for months. Samsung delayed the Galaxy Fold to fix it, and now that it’s fixed it’s still not available to buyers. Huawei’s Mate X, which looks even better than Samsung’s phone — and it’s also more expensive — should have launched this summer, according to recent reports. That’s no longer the case, and Huawei might launch it as late as November this year. Why? We have no real answer.
