Oreo offers $50,000 to anyone who can guess its brand new ‘Mystery’ flavor
If you’ve got a sophisticated or discerning palette, you may want to get in on this new Oreo promotion Nabisco is running. While Nabisco is certainly no stranger to releasing mysterious Oreo flavors, the company is upping the ante considerably this year. Specifically, folks who can identify the flavor of a new type of Oreo will be eligible for a chance to win $50,000.
The new mystery flavored Oreos will start hitting store shelves on Monday, September 16 and will remain in-stock until November 10. The cookies themselves will look exactly like the current classic black-and-white Oreos, but the flavored creme on the inside could be anything. Interestingly enough, Nabisco notes that the Mystery Oreo could be a completely new flavor or even a “combination of two current Oreo flavors.”

NASA will spy on India’s crashed moon lander next week
Late last week, India’s ISRO space agency experienced utter heartbreak when its Chandrayaan-2 lunar lander went quiet moments before its expected touchdown. The spacecraft slammed into the Moon rather than landing softly, and nobody really knows if it’s still alive, or what kind of shape it’s in.
To help its space-faring friends in India, NASA will do its best to spot the landing (or crash) site with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter next week. As Spaceflight Now reports, the US space agency will use the LRO’s powerful camera to scan Chandrayaan-2’s landing site on Tuesday.

MIT scientists just created the blackest black ever
When it comes to paint, not all shades of black are the same. You can pick up a can of flat black spray paint at the hardware store and it’ll do a pretty good job of absorbing light, but if you really want the blackest possible black you have to enter the high-tech world of carbon nanotubes.
For years, scientists have been experimenting with tiny carbon structures that, when arranged in the right way, can absorb an incredible amount of light. Now, researchers from MIT have developed a new material that captures an incredible 99.995% of all incoming light, making it the blackest black on the planet.

9 new trailers you need to watch: Doctor Sleep, Midway, Last Christmas, and more
It Chapter Two made less than $100 million at the box office, below estimates, but well above anything else playing right now in cinemas. Coming to contest it this weekend, however, is Hustlers, a movie based on the real-life story of a gang of strippers who took from the rich, like Robin Hood, to paraphrase the original article this film is based on, and gave to themselves… so maybe not exactly like Robin Hood.
The Goldfinch should also be on your radar, a drama starring Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman. If for some reason you’re staying in this weekend, then there’s a great new Netflix TV series that’s quite easy to binge, The Spy, starring Sacha Baron Cohen in a role unlike anything you’ve ever seen him in.

New Airbus planes have sensors that track most of what you do, even in the bathroom
The connected home is a pretty mainstream phenomenon at this point, as more and more consumers bring products like smart speakers and displays, connected video doorbells, smart appliances and the like into their lives. Making ubiquitous connectivity and digitization an even more commonplace part of everyday existence. And now, thanks to aerospace giants like Airbus, it seems the friendly skies are the next target for the spread of the so-called Internet of Things.
Through the end of this year, Airbus will be hosting test flights of its A350-900 aircraft that have been specially kitted with sensors that will monitor passengers extremely closely — even in the bathroom — all in the name of delivering better and more personalized service.

Video shows a Model 3 automatically apply the brakes to avoid hitting a cop who ran a red light
Tesla’s automated emergency braking (AEB) system, which was first introduced in 2017, has improved markedly in a relatively short amount of time. Just a few weeks ago, for example, Tesla demonstrated its next-gen AEB system which can more ably apply the brakes when a pedestrian or cyclist is detected.
With that said, we recently stumbled across a new video which shows a Tesla Model 3 abruptly hit the brakes when a police officer on a motorcycle runs a red light and turns left into oncoming traffic. The officer was presumably chasing someone but his sirens were off at the time.
