Sony’s mind-blowing $350 noise cancelling headphones are somehow down to $230 renewed
We’ve been racking our brains and we can’t think of anytime since they were first released that the Sony WH1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones were on sale for less than they are right now. We’ve seen plenty of retailers shave $50 off the sky-high $350 retail price for sales, and we’ve seen that go up to $80 or even $100 for renewed models. But if you head over to Amazon right now, you can pick up a pair of refurbs for a whopping $120 less than retail. That’s only $230 for the best noise cancelling headphones on the planet! Since they’re renewed, that means there’s a finite number in stock at this price, so you had better hurry up and grab a pair because they’re definitely going to sell out.

Revolutionary iPhone tech that took 5 years to develop was just abandoned by Apple after only 4 years
There’s no question whatsoever that 3D Touch is the most underappreciated technologies Apple has introduced in the past decade, but that’s no one’s fault but Apple’s. It’s a complex and compelling technology that uses special sensors built into the iPhone’s display. These sensors are able to measure the amount of pressure that is applied when someone touches the phone’s screen, and then Apple’s iOS software can trigger different reactions based on the amount of pressure. For example, lightly tapping an icon on the iPhone’s home screen will open the app, but pressing firmly on the icon will open a menu of shortcuts and even a widget.
When Apple develops exciting new technologies like this for its iPhones, the company’s rivals typically trip over themselves racing to copy it. But in the case of 3D Touch, no other company managed to pull it off and use it widely. Interestingly though, it might not be that Apple’s rivals were unable to copy 3D Touch. It might simply be that they realized this particular technology isn’t very useful at all. And now, just 4 years since 3D Touch was first introduced on the iPhone 6s, Apple has come to the same conclusion.

The iPhone 11 phones are available for preorder, with several iPhone 11 versions and most iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max options being sold out at the moment. The handsets will ship to buyers on September 20th, but just a day before that, Huawei will unveil its third flagship phone of the year (counting the foldable Mate X), and one of the most important iPhone 11 alternatives this holiday season. That’s the Mate 30 series, of course, which also happens to be the most controversial Android flagship phone series of 2019 thanks to all of the hubbub surrounding Trump’s trade war with China. And now we have press renders for all three Mate 30 phones that Huawei will unveil in a few days.

Insider says iPhone 11 sales are even better than expected, and now most models are sold out
Apple on Friday started iPhone 11 preorders, with all three models available to consumers, including the cheaper iPhone 11 and the premium iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro. With six colors for iPhone 11 and four options for the Pro versions, and with three storage tiers for all three models, users sure had a wide variety of iPhone versions to choose from. Add to that that Apple sold all iPhone 11 flavors unlocked from day one, in addition to the four carrier option for each model, and you end up with a myriad of iPhone alternatives to choose from. At the time of this writing, several iPhone 11 color options are sold out, and the same goes for most iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max options. Meanwhile, a trusted insider claims that iPhone 11 orders were much better than anticipated, with the new colors being an influencing factor.

NASA astronauts are preparing for the Moon in a big water tank
NASA astronaut candidates have to meet a long list of criteria before the space agency decides they’re fit to carry out important duties in space. When astronauts return to the Moon in the near future, they’ll be met with challenges that few space travelers have ever endured, and NASA wants to make sure they’re ready for life on another world.
In a new blog post, NASA highlights one of the tools at its disposal for preparing future Moon explorers: the Neutral Buoyancy Lab located at the Johnson Space Center. In a massive water tank, astronauts experience simulated low-gravity, and they wear much more than your average swimmer.

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Sep. 15)
This is undoubtedly one of my most anticipated weeks of new releases on Netflix this entire year. The reason? One of my favorite Netflix originals, Disenchantment, is returning with new episodes. I’ve talked about the show before, but it is so much more than just The Simpsons or Futurama in the middle ages. It has a strong narrative thread, and I’m actually stoked to see where the story goes after the first part’s cliffhanger.
Other highlights this week include Between Two Ferns: The Movie, which should be just as insane as the web series, and Criminal, which countless true crime junkies will inevitably binge the second it drops.
