Sony has been drip-feeding us details about the next-gen PlayStation for months now, a process which began with a Wired interview back in April. Thanks to the interview, we know that the PlayStation 5 (though it still does not have an official name) will feature an 8-core AMD CPU, custom 3D audio unit, super-fast solid-state drive (SSD), the ability to play physical media, and full backwards compatibility with all PS4 games.

A month later, during a Q&A session at Sony IR Day 2019, deputy president John Kodera seemingly confirmed that PS4 and PS5 owners will be able to play online together. There have been a few major leaks and rumors since, but on Sunday, Sony returned with a small but interesting reveal about its next-gen console.

In a few years from now, people will likely look back at the current smartphone era and wonder why anyone in their right mind would destroy a perfectly good smartphone by dropping it from tall heights. The reality, though, is that modern-day smartphones, while more resilient and tougher than ever, are still prone to shattering when inadvertently dropped. Less than a week after Apple Arcade went live alongside the launch of iOS 13, Google has unveiled its own mobile gaming subscription platform for Android devices. Google Play Pass, much like Apple Arcade, costs $4.99 per month and grants access to hundreds of games without any ads or in-app purchases. But unlike Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass also includes premium productivity and entertainment apps, such as Facetune and AccuWeather.

Perhaps the biggest difference between Play Pass and Apple Arcade is that Google won’t require developers to make their apps or games exclusive to the service on mobile. Apple Arcade titles won’t appear anywhere on mobile outside of the service, but Play Pass titles aren’t beholden to the same restrictions.

What started as a joke on Facebook — and eventually spawned a real-life gathering of alien hunters in the Nevada desert — quietly reached its climax over the weekend as a few dozen extraterrestrial enthusiasts stood around at the front gate of Area 51 and demanded to see a real-life alien. Their demands were not met, and they went home without incident.

The “Storm Area 51” event on Facebook gathered millions of supposed attendees, but the actual turnout what pretty modest. Last week, law enforcement in nearby Rachel, Nevada, expected as many as 30,000 people to show up for an alien-inspired festival, but video from the actual Area 51 reveals that only a few dozen people actually showed up at the military base. Videos shot from attendees are underwhelming, to say the least.
