This is how much it will cost to replace a broken Galaxy Fold display

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy Fold in the US, and we’ve already warned you multiple times that it’s a not a great idea to spend $2,000 on the first-gen foldable. Sure, Samsung fixed some of the flaws that affected the review units, but the handset is far from close to being as durable as a traditional smartphone.

As we learned from a recent durability test, the Fold has two issues you should be aware of. First of all, dust, sand, and any other tiny particles can get into the phone and remain stuck inside the hinge. But the more important issue concerns the delicate screen, which is easy to scratch and pierce. Once the screen is destroyed, you’ll have to replace it, and now we know just how much these replacements will cost consumers.

Today has been a surprisingly busy day for fans of console gaming. Just over an hour after Sony wrapped up its latest State of Play live stream, Microsoft is set to hit the airwaves with a new edition of Inside Xbox. Much like State of Play or Nintendo Direct, Inside Xbox is Microsoft’s chance to talk about and show off new games and offer updates on its services, including Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud, which will soon be available in beta.

The Project xCloud news could possibly make the biggest splash, as Xbox One owners have been anxiously awaiting their opportunity to see if cloud gaming really is the future. %name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Getting humans back to the Moon is going to be complicated, and NASA is juggling a lot of different projects right now in the hopes that it’ll all come together by 2024. The Orion spacecraft, which is the crew capsule that will ferry astronauts safely through space, has been in development for a long time already, and NASA just announced a new contract with manufacturer Lockheed Martin to produce a whole bunch of them.

The agency just awarded Lockheed a huge contract worth over $4.5 billion, tasking the company with producing several batches of Orion capsules, adding up to as many as a dozen of the spacecraft by the time the Artemis missions wrap up.

New leak details the latest feature Google stole from the iPhone for the Pixel 4

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Whether Google admits it or not, the iPhone has clearly been a huge inspiration the Pixel. The first model looked just like an iPhone 6, the Pixel 2 came without a headphone jack, and the Pixel 3 introduced featured a notch. The Pixel 4 series will also get a signature iPhone, one that analysts estimated Android rivals would need two years to replicate. We’re talking about 3D face recognition, which first debuted on the iPhone X in 2017.

Both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will feature Face ID-like functionality that will replace fingerprint sensors, and an early review says Google’s Face ID works pretty much like the iPhone, in spite of Google’s earlier claims.

Watch PlayStation’s State of Play to see the next big PS4 games in action

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’re all anxiously awaiting more news about the PlayStation 5, but in the meantime, there are still a few major titles set to hit the PlayStation 4 before Sony moves on to the next generation. In recent months, Sony has begun hosting a live-streamed event called State of Play in order to showcase upcoming games, and the latest edition of the irregular event will kick off on Tuesday, September 24th, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.

According to a blog post on the PlayStation Blog last week, the September State of Play will run for about 20 minutes and will feature “new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates.” The event is also apparently “sporting a fresh new look,” whatever that means.

This video of Boston Dynamics’ creepy humanoid robot doing parkour is equal parts amazing and terrifying

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Robots have always had certain advantages over humans. They’re typically made of more durable materials than the soft tissue covering human bodies and since they can be repaired in the event of damage, they can basically “live” forever. But robots are usually clunky and clumsy, and humans have always had a huge advantage in terms of dexterity.

Thanks to the mad scientists at Boston Dynamics, that appears to be changing. The humanoid Atlas robot, which has already demonstrated incredibly impressive human-like abilities, just keeps getting better and better, and a new video by the company shows that its fluidity of movement has now easily surpassed your own (and mine).

Japan and Russia are about to fire a pair of spacecraft to the International Space Station

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The International Space Station is always a busy place. Astronauts aboard the orbiting laboratory perform experiments, make observations, and carry out all manner of scientific work as the spacecraft cruises around our planet. But this week will be busier than usual, with not one, but two rocket launches sending supplies and travelers to the ISS.

Japanese space agency JAXA is scheduled to send its HTV-8 cargo ship into space on Tuesday, packed with over four tons of vital supplies as well as new scientific equipment and experiments. Meanwhile, Russia’s Roscosmos is slated to send a new trio of ISS crewmembers skyward on Wednesday morning, with NASA’s Jessica Meir, Russia’s Oleg Skripochka, and Hazzaa Ali Almansoori of the UAE arriving at the space station by mid-afternoon, EDT.
