It’s now been a couple of weeks since an amateur astronomer stumbled across what appeared to be the second interstellar object ever observed by mankind. The object, which appears to be a comet-like body, entered our solar system at an angle that suggested it originated somewhere else, and subsequent observations proved that to be the case.

The object was targeted by multiple observatories, allowing scientists to get a good idea of its trajectory, confirming the idea that it was indeed an interstellar body. Now, with all that work out of the way, the comet has finally gotten its official name, and it honors the astronomer that first spotted it.

Apple launched a new Apple Watch model alongside the iPhone 11, with Series 5 replacing last year’s Series 4. The new device has the same design as its predecessor, which itself delivered the first significant redesign in Watch history. Series 5 does pack new display tech that allows Apple to bring always-on functionality to the smartwatch, although you wouldn’t know by looking at it that the Series 5 is a brand new model.

When it comes to hardware, we recently learned that the new S5 processor that powers the new devices is similar to the S4, although it packs twice the storage and includes components that enable the new compass feature of the handset. Of course, only a teardown would reveal all of the Series 5’s secrets, and the usual suspects found that the internals of Series 5 and Series 4 are actually different. Also, the new model has a slightly bigger battery.

The International Space Station is about to get three new residents. Earlier this morning, the trio of space travelers launched aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft and, after a handful of hours speeding toward their destination, they’re about to arrive at the ISS.

As is often the case, NASA will be providing a live stream of the docking operation. The stream is scheduled to begin at around 3 p.m. EDT, with the actual docking taking place at approximately 3:45 p.m. You’ll be able to watch the entire thing via the NASA TV live stream in the YouTube window embedded below.
