Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Oct. 6)
Some people have been asking for it ever since Breaking Bad ended, and others still aren’t sure if it’s going to tarnish the legacy of one of the best shows ever made, but the AMC series is getting an epilogue on Friday. Jesse Pinkman’s story was left unfinished in the finale of the TV series, and after all these years, creator Vince Gilligan decided it was time to check back in and see what happened in the days after his escape.
Other than El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, other highlights this week include Cardi B. and T.I.’s new competition show Rhythm + Flow, and the fifth season of Schitt’s Creek. Sadly, anime fans will lose both Little Witch Academia and Sword Art Online II: Season 1 this week, so watch while you can.

NASA just joined the electric vehicle revolution
As automakers continue to embrace electric vehicles and more companies pledge to purge their vehicle lineups of gas engines in the coming years, the trend has finally caught on at NASA. NASA doesn’t sell cars, of course, but the space agency does use many fuel-burning machines across its various projects, and its new X-57 Maxwell aircraft is a sign that change is afoot.
The X-57 is an all-electric experimental aircraft that has been in the works for some time. This model was built by ESAero, and as NASA explains in a new blog post, it’s essentially a retrofit on an aircraft design that originally had traditional combustion engines.

Fireballs spotted above Chile defy explanation
When we Earthlings spot something tearing through the sky in a blaze of glory, there’s almost always a totally reasonable explanation. More often than not, tiny chunks of space rock are the culprit, and when they slam into Earth’s atmosphere the friction is enough to set them ablaze. A recent fireball sighting in Chile is apparently not as easy to explain, and scientists still aren’t sure exactly what they saw.
As LiveScience reports, multiple fireballs lit up the skies in Chile just last week, and at the time it was assumed they were meteorites. A handful of the fireballs survived long enough to hit the ground, and when they did, they sparked small blazes that were quickly extinguished by firefighters.

I just got back from a week in Europe and couldn’t have survived without Apple Maps
Around this time last week, I was on the Eurostar headed from the St. Pancras railway station in London en route to Paris — a ride that at one point actually dips under the English Channel before crossing into France. After the train had done so, that’s the point at which I was staring at my iPhone, trying to figure out why Apple Maps was showing me as officially on French soil, while Google Maps was inexplicably registering me as still back in England, having not yet crossed the Channel.

10 new trailers you need to watch: Birds of Prey, Richard Jewell, The Gentlemen, and more
It’s Joker weekend, folks, a movie we’ve been waiting to hit theaters for months. It’s sadly not part of the DC Comics Universe. Still, it’s absolutely a superhero movie to watch, as we’re looking at the origin story of one of the greatest villains portrayed in superhero movies. I know I will have watched it before you actually get to finish this week’s new trailers — and, by the way, we have quite a few interesting ones.
If you’re looking for a different kind of distraction from real life, then Netflix’s In the Shadow of the Moon may be just what the doctor ordered. The crime/sci-fi Netflix original is worth checking out, telling a compelling time-traveling story of the Back to the Future rather than the Avengers: Endgame variety.

FDA announces expanded recall of all-purpose flour that is tainted with E. coli
Several months ago the FDA announced a recall of all-purpose flour because it was probably tainted with E. coli. E. coli is no joke, but the recall was relatively small in terms of scale, with only a handful of lots having to be recalled. Unfortunately, it seems the recall wasn’t nearly large enough, because the FDA just announced that the company behind the product is recalling many, many more lots of the flour.
King Arthur Flour, Inc., and ADM Milling Company alerted the FDA that it is conducting a more wide-ranging recall that includes dozens of lots of flour in additional sizes.
