Apple’s iPhone SE 2 will be a phone no one really wants
The good news is that Apple is working on a successor to the surprisingly popular iPhone SE. The bad news is that the device, at least from some of the early rumors floating around, will not be a device devoted iPhone SE users will be interested in in the slightest.
While Apple rumors are a dime a dozen, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo over the past few years has proven himself to be exceptionally accurate with his predictions. Most recently, Kuo issued a research note indicating that Apple’s iPhone SE 2 will boast a form factor similar to the iPhone 8, complete with a 4.7-inch display. Additionally, the iPhone SE 2 will boast a Touch ID sensor, Apple’s latest A13 processor, and a single-lens camera on the back.

Netflix still refuses to make a Mac app, but there’s already an amazing alternative for you
The best way to watch Netflix is using its official apps, regardless of the operating system, unless you’re a Mac owner in which case you’re stuck with a browser or experimenting with third-party apps. But if you were hoping for Netflix to just port its iPad app to Mac now that macOS Catalina is available and Apple’s Catalyst tech is available to developers, you’ll have to think again. For the moment, that’s not happening, although it might have to do more with Apple than Netflix.

One of Google’s most popular apps might finally be getting dark mode
Dark mode has been slowly spreading across the entire mobile app ecosystem over the last few years, but Apple’s decision to add a dedicated system-wide dark mode to iOS 13 might have escalated the adoption of the feature even further. For example, just this week, Instagram updated its app with a dark mode, and now there are signs that one of Google’s most important mobile apps will be going dark in the near future as well.
According to Android Police, elements of dark mode have begun to appear in the latest versions of Maps Preview and Maps Beta, signaling that Google is at the very least testing the feature out. That said, it’s likely still a ways away from being ready for release, as a vast majority of the app still appears as it always has, and of the interface elements that have been changed, many are illegible with dark text on a dark background.

A new leak might’ve just revealed the Pixel 4’s last remaining secret
Next week, Google will finally announce its next-generation flagship smartphone lineup alongside a bunch of other new products the company has planned for the holiday season. There is indeed plenty in store for us at Google’s big press conference next Tuesday, but the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will take center stage. Now that Apple’s iPhone 11 series has been released and the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have officially stolen the mobile photography crown that Google and Huawei shared, expectations for the company’s new Pixel 4 camera couldn’t be higher. Google’s previous-generation Pixel phones have had terrific cameras all-around, but nighttime photography has been a particularly strong point for Pixel phones ever since Google introduced Night Sight. This fantastic feature captures multiple photos in rapid succession at different exposures and then instantly stitches them together, pulling different elements from each image and combining them into one shockingly clear photograph. Night Sight was in a class of its own until last month, when the iPhone 11 series was released and Apple’s new Night mode feature did the job even better.
We’ll have to wait until next week to see just how impressive the cameras on the new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are, but that’s just about the only thing we’re waiting to learn. Why? Because practically everything else there is to know about the new Google phones has already leaked. There might have been one secret left for Google to reveal on stage at next week’s event, but unfortunately for Google it appears as though a last-minute leak spoiled the surprise yet again.
