Some Tesla owners with older vehicles are experiencing a range of worrisome issues

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the prevailing narratives surrounding Tesla is that the company isn’t so much an automotive company as it is a tech company. And truth be told, the description fits. Tesla over the past few years managed to shake up the entire auto industry by incorporating any number of novel tech-oriented innovations into its vehicles. As a prime example, Tesla was the first auto company to introduce over-the-air software updates that enabled users to take advantage of new features after driving off the lot.

Unfortunately, though, a Silicon Valley-esque approach to automotive design can sometimes lead to frustrating usability issues. A new report from Business Insider claims that some older Tesla models are experiencing a few glitches wherein the 17-inch touchscreen in-dash display simply stops working. Other users, meanwhile, have noted that older versions of the Model S have simply stopped charging.

Well, I guess I have to pay for HBO Max now

With all the talk of Apple TV+ and Disney+ lately, both of which are launching within the next month, it can be easy to forget that they are just two of many high-profile streaming services rolling out in the near future. One that will clearly receive a great deal of attention closer to its arrival is the upcoming HBO Max, but on Thursday, WarnerMedia made an announcement so monumental that I have resigned myself to the fact that I will eventually have no choice but to subscribe to yet another service, whether I like it or not.

On Thursday, HBO Max revealed that it has acquired the US streaming rights to the entire Studio Ghibli feature film library. The 34-year-old Japanese studio is responsible for some of the most celebrated animated movies of all time, including the Academy Award-winning classic from 2002, Spirited Away.

Yet another patent from Samsung with wild ideas for a new phone has been unearthed

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Studying Samsung’s patent activity is always a good way to get a sense of where its future smartphone technology and innovations might be headed, as the company rushes to put its stamp on all manner of new designs and advancements before its rivals do. The documentation never points to guaranteed releases, but they do suggest potential avenues that Samsung’s product roadmap might take as they reflect new form factors and features that could possibly end up making it into future handset releases.

Divining the next direction Samsung will take is a bit of an art and a science. We reported earlier today about speculation that an upcoming Samsung phone (the Fold 2, but maybe not) would have a design breakthrough we’ve been waiting for — an under-the-display selfie camera. Meanwhile, a patent for which Samsung applied to the World Intellectual Property Office has just been published, revealing some unusual new smartphone features, like a sliding display and a rotating camera housed under the display.

NASA is showering Boeing with cash for delayed SLS rocket

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Going to the Moon isn’t cheap, no matter how far ahead you can plan for it. Going to the Moon on a dramatically-shortened timeline? Well, that can be even more expensive, and with NASA revealing that it’s close to striking a deal with manufacturer Boeing for up to 10 SLS rocket core stages for the Artemis mission program, it’s clear that the agency is feeling particularly generous.

As Ars Technica reports, the contracts that are close to being inked between Boeing and NASA will likely offer special incentives and fees for the company despite the rocket’s already lengthy development.

Here’s what NASA astronauts will wear on the Moon

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A couple of weeks back, NASA teased its new spacesuits that astronauts will wear when exploring the lunar surface in years to come. The agency plans on having crewed missions to the Moon underway by 2024, and upgrading the gear that astronauts will wear on their journey was a top priority. Now, we’re finally getting our first look at real-life versions of the spacesuits that will keep NASA astronauts safe during their missions.

The prototypes — including the xEMU suit for lunar exploration and the Orion Crew Survival System suit — were shown off during an event at NASA’s headquarters this week.

Google copied a signature iPhone feature for the Pixel 4, but missed one huge element

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google confirmed the Pixel 4’s main features several months before actually announcing the phone, but that didn’t stop the leaks. All the Pixel 4 rumors that followed were easy to verify, considering we all knew what the Pixel 4 would look like and what its signature features would be. Unsurprisingly, Google copied the iPhone again, with Apple continuing to be its main inspiration for the Pixel line so far.

Not only did Google have to admit that it needed more cameras on the back of the phone to improve photography, but the Pixel 4 is the latest Android handset — and the most important one — to replicate one of the most important iPhone features in recent years. That’s 3D face unlock, Google’s response to Face ID, which launched on the iPhone two years ago. But Google forgot to also replicate one of Face ID’s key security features.

These were the 10 most popular TV shows and movies on Netflix in 2019

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Historically, Netflix has had a tendency to shy away from releasing specific viewership figures for any of its original programming. Sure, the streaming giant would, on occasion, issue a press release stating that a specific show or season premiere was record-breaking, but the company made a habit of never disclosing any actual data.

Recently, though, Netflix has decided to become a little bit more transparent with respect to viewership figures. As part of the company’s earnings report this week, Netflix, for the first time in company history, provided us with actual viewership figures for its most popular content, and some of the entries might surprise you.
