New icons found in macOS suggest that 16-inch MacBook Pro release drawing near
At this point, it’s overwhelmingly clear that the butterfly keyboard design Apple introduced on its late-2016 MacBook Pro marks one of the low points in Apple design. Though Apple would go on to make iterative improvements to the design, the bottom line is that the slimmer keyboard design proved to be unreliable and prone to breaking if even the slightest particle happened to lodge itself underneath a key.
The good news is that Apple is reportedly planning to launch a slew of new MacBook models with the older scissor mechanism keyboard, including a revamped MacBook Pro with a 16-inch display.

Google just accidentally admitted that iPhones are more valuable than Pixels
When Google launched the Pixel line two years ago, two things were clear. One: The Nexus phone replacement was going to be a more expensive, premium Android meant to deliver a high-end Android experience. Two: The Pixels would copy the iPhone. Fast forward to the Pixel 4, and things haven’t really changed.
Google may have introduced a cheaper Pixel phone earlier this year, but it doesn’t compete with flagships. The high-end Pixel phones, Pixel 4 included, are still expensive – more expensive than the cheapest iPhones. And they’re still copying features that Apple introduced years ago. To make matters worse, Google just told us it thinks iPhones are more valuable than its expensive Pixels, which isn’t a great message to send.

It worked! NASA’s plan to get its InSight tool digging again pays off
NASA’s InSight lander is doing some great work on Mars. It’s been listening closely for rumblings from inside the planet and even provides timely weather reports back to Earth. It’s great… but it could be even greater.
Shortly after deploying its instruments it quickly became clear that one of the tools just wasn’t performing as expected. The self-burring “mole” tool, which is designed to dig up to 16 feet into the surface just couldn’t get a grip, stalling out and putting one of the mission’s objectives in jeopardy. Now, a rather innovative workaround has proven successful, and the mole is digging once more.

One of the Pixel 4’s best new features only works if you enable gesture navigation
The Pixel 4 is finally official, which means we’re no longer speculating on what it can or can’t do based on leaks. The phone has a bunch of signature features, including 3D face unlock, Motion Sense radar-based gestures, and a dual-lens rear camera, but those aren’t necessarily the best things about the phone. Yes, the camera upgrade is definitely noteworthy, but the Pixel 4 has a few tricks up its sleeve that aren’t available on other phones.
One of them is inspired by the iPhone: The new Recorder app that comes with real-time voice-to-text transcription and search support. But the best software trick is the new Google Assistant, which is so much better on the Pixel 4 than the one you might be using now. The new Assistant comes with a reduced footprint that allows it to operate on-device for some commands and support Continued Conversation, which looks amazing in demos. But some people might have to sacrifice the Android they know and love to enable the new Assistant.

OnePlus 8 Pro leaked months before its reveal in detailed renders
Two weeks ago, one of Twitter’s most prolific smartphone leakers, Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks), teamed up with CashKaro to give us an advance look at the OnePlus 8. This was before the Chinese vendor had even officially announced the OnePlus 7T Pro, and now, just weeks later, Hemmerstoffer has returned with renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro, which, if accurate, provide a complete picture of the spring 2020 flagship OnePlus lineup.
Hemmerstoffer shared the renders with 91mobiles this time around – a site which has hosted several major Android phone leaks in the past. Save for a few subtle changes, the OnePlus 8 Pro looks similar to its younger sibling, which in turn was visually very similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro.
