%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It probably hasn’t escaped anyone’s attention that the name of the game these days at Apple is subscription revenue, as the iPhone maker’s signature hardware product continues to mature and the company looks for new ways to generate recurring revenue. This is why we’ve seen Apple roll out subscription packages that offer video games, music, TV, and news, all of which have combined to push the company into a completely new era.

Previously, the entirety of the company had been oriented around the sale of expensive hardware. If Apple is truly committed to its new emphasis on services, however, one aspect of its operation still needs to change — and during Apple’s earnings call with analysts this week, that’s exactly what CEO Tim Cook signaled he’s open to.

iPhone owners say iOS 13.2 has a serious problem that affects performance

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The beta release schedule and eventual public launch of iOS 13 were chaotic, but many assumed that by the time iOS 13.2 rolled out, most of the major problems would have been addressed. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case, as iPhone and iPad users have been complaining in recent days about poor memory management that is resulting in background apps and tasks being killed more aggressively than ever.

Court rules police don’t have to pay for a house they basically blew up to capture a suspect

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It was like a scene out of a movie. A shoplifting suspect in Colorado, armed with a gun, steals a few clothing items from a Denver-area Walmart store, then flees the scene. He breaks into a home, barricades himself there and then things get out of hand fast. He starts firing at police officers. A 9-year-old child was home alone there at the time, but he was able to safely flee.

A 19-hour standoff ensues. More than 100 officers from various law enforcement agencies respond. Ultimately, police use explosives to blow holes in the walls, lobbing tear gas and driving an armed vehicle through the doors. Suspect arrested. Situation diffused, and that was the end of it.

Oops! Samsung hosted a d**k pic on the front page of its community app

You might not realize this, but Samsung has its very own community social app for its users. It’s called Samsung Members, and it’s useful for troubleshooting and interacting with other Samsung fans. It’s apparently also useful for sharing photos of your genitalia.

Late Wednesday night, as much of the country was enjoying a tense finish to the World Series, the Samsung Members app was hosting a big ole donger. The phallic photo was apparently front and center on the front page of the app and remained there for hours before any action was taken.
