Woman found dead in a house with 140 snakes was seemingly strangled by a python
A 36-year-old woman in Oxford, Indiana, was recently found dead in a makeshift “snake sanctuary” that was home to 140 snakes. The victim, Laura Hurst, was found lifeless on the floor of the home with a reticulated python around her neck. It’s a bizarre story from top to bottom, and it starts with the home’s owner, who happens to be the local sheriff.
As the Journal & Courier reports, Benton County Sheriff Don Munson owns the home but doesn’t actually live there. He’s apparently a snake enthusiast and was (or perhaps still is) a snake breeder who sells the animals. Hurst is reported to have owned some of the snakes in the house, and Munson lives right next door.

Game of Thrones’ awful ending has convinced some people that Benioff and Weiss were fired from their ‘Star Wars’ gig
D&D, which is what David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are referred to online, made the news twice in a matter of days. The Game of Thrones showrunners made some incredible comments at the Austin Film Festival a few days ago — comments that went viral online thanks to a Redditor who attended the panel, as the two producers practically confirmed they had no idea what they were doing with Game of Thrones.
Then, a few days later Benioff and Weiss announced their departure from Disney’s new Star Wars trilogy, which should have premiered in 2022. The reports that followed tied D&D’s decision to exit the Disney deal with the poor performance of final season Game of Thrones. Some people went as far as to say that the atrocious season finale of Game of Thrones was what sealed their fates when it comes to Star Wars.

The critics have spoken about Apple TV+, now here’s what actual users think
It’s fair to say the early reviews of Apple’s first foray into the world of original TV content have not been kind. Right out of the gate, outlets like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter excoriated the launch-day slate of shows, though that’s not to say that positive coverage has been non-existent. Vanity Fair in a report Friday described Dickinson as Apple’s “wildest, most fascinating show,” while Polygon had this to say about Apple’s Jason Mamoa-led See: “Apple’s See has the worldbuilding to satisfy Game of Thrones fans”.
All that said, Apple TV+ has officially launched as of Friday and marked Apple’s formal entrance onto the battlefield of the streaming wars. Meanwhile, there’s one constituency that hasn’t been heard from yet in the initial coverage of Apple’s new streaming service: Actual users.

7 new trailers you need to watch: Knives Out, Jumanji 2, The Witcher, and more
The first weekend of November brings us several new movies, including the brand new Terminator, which will feature plenty of callbacks to the only Terminator movie everyone loves. In addition to Dark Fate, we also have Netflix’s The Irishman out in theaters this week, although it’s a limited release, and you might have to wait to catch it once it starts streaming on Netflix later this month.
Also out this weekend are Harriet and Motherless Brooklyn. One’s a biographical story about escaping slavery, and the other is a crime story about a detective (Edward Norton) suffering from Tourette Syndrome. All the while, Joker is still turning heads, continuing to rake in cash at the box office.

4,200 pounds of hamburger recalled because it might have metal in it
The debate over the potential health risks of red meat may never truly end, but one Wisconsin company is recalling thousands of pounds of beef patties because the food is dangerous in an entirely different way. The company, OSI Industries, is based out of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and it’s recalling its ground beef patties because there may actually be metal in them.
OSI ships its products in bulk, making the process of tracking down the recalled meat a bit of a challenge. The meat was sold in 38-lb boxes labeled as “Char-broiled beef patties.” You wouldn’t likely find these bulk packages on a store shelf, but the companies that buy them may distribute them to restaurants or repackage them under various brand names.

One of the Pixel 4’s most impressive features is coming soon to older models
In a roundabout way, Google has confirmed that one of the features which immediately stood out when the Pixel 4 was first unveiled about a month ago — the super fast and useful Recorder app that transcribes audio — is coming soon to older Pixel models via a software update.
This free app is, as we said, fast and mostly accurate. And reporters, in particular, soon started raving about it on Twitter, given that transcribing interview recordings is one of the more thankless and time-consuming aspects of the job. A Google Pixel Community account confirmed the news that the app is coming to earlier Pixels via a Reddit comment, though it wasn’t immediately clear what kind of timetable this is on nor which specific older Pixel models the feature is coming to.
