The music industry just can’t win. TorrentFreak reports that less than 24 hours after Argentina implemented a new blockade for The Pirate Bay following complaints from the music industry’s Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers (CAPIF), hackers invaded CAPIF’s website and turned it into “a fully functioning and blockade-circumventing Pirate Bay proxy.”

Facebook has repeatedly shown us that it is not afraid to bet big on the future. The company sees mobile messaging as a staple for years to come, and it spent an astronomical $19 billion to buy WhatsApp, the biggest name in the business. Virtual Reality is a still-emerging area that could also become a huge market in the future, so Facebook spent a reported $2 billion to acquire Oculus, one of the hottest names in VR. And now, an early version of the company’s Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will finally begin shipping to early buyers.

Snapchat’s latest new feature is actually fairly brilliant

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Snapchat is a hugely popular app, but its utility is relatively narrow: chat with your friends, send pictures that disappear (but not really), repeat. As the mobile messaging space continues to heat up, however, Snapchat is beginning to play with some new features that might help separate it from the pack and keep it on top of its niche within the messaging category. And as it turns out, the latest feature Snapchat is toying with is actually fairly smart.

We’ve seen plenty of iWatch concept images and videos over the past several months, but now that we know at least one version of the iWatch’s display is expected to stretch to 2.5 inches, it might be time to re-imagine Apple’s first entry into wearables. SET Solution, the same consulting company that mocked up its own vision of the iPad Pro earlier this year, is back with a concept video of the iWatch that really puts the 2.5-inch display into perspective.

Apple is no longer doomed

For a while, analysts spent most of their time describing the many ways Apple was doomed. But now their tune may be changing, at least when it comes to Apple’s stock price. According to a recent survey of analysts by Fortune, now over 60% of analysts predict Apple’s stock price will rise above $100. This is a significant increase from a year ago, when only 4 out of 45 analysts predicted that Apple’s stock price would rise above $700, the $100-equivalent of Apple’s stock price since its 7-for-1 stock split last month.

Reunited With His Stolen Corvette – 33 Years Later

Corvette Reunited 300x162 Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

George Talley and his prized ’79 Chevrolet Corvette were reunited at General Motors’ world headquarters, just three miles from where the car was stolen from him 33 years ago.

Talley, 71, last saw his Corvette when it was parked on Jefferson Avenue in 1981. On June 13, more than 30 years later, Talley received a call from AAA informing him his car had turned up in Hattiesburg, Miss.

“It was a lucky day to hear that my car had been found,” said Talley. “They told me it was running, had 47,000 miles on it and was ready for me to pick up!”

Talley – a Corvette fan since he saw his neighbor’s first-generation ‘Vette in the 1950s – was fortunate to own three more Corvettes, but the ’79 was always his favorite.

Talley’s luck continued when Mark Reuss, executive vice president for GM Product Development, heard his story on the news and offered to ship the car home to Detroit.

“George’s story brought a smile to my face,” said Reuss. “As a longtime Corvette owner myself, I know the passion the car inspires. I also knew that car belonged home in Detroit, with its rightful owner, and we could make that happen.”

Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is now one of the world’s largest car brands, doing business in more than 140 countries and selling more than 4.9 million cars and trucks a year. Chevrolet provides customers with fuel-efficient vehicles that feature spirited performance, expressive design, and high quality. More information on Chevrolet models can be found at www.chevrolet.com.
