Here’s another way the iPhone 6 might disappoint you
We hope you weren’t getting your hopes up too much that Apple was going to just give you a cool new reversible USB cable when you bought the iPhone 6. 9to5Mac directs our attention to a new research note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that Apple’s new reversible USB Lightning connector won’t be shipping with the iPhone 6 and it’s not clear whether Apple plans to release the new connector at all. Kuo says that Apple believes the reversible USB connector will offer only “limited improvements to overall user experience” and thus won’t be worth the extra money to ship with the iPhone 6.

IPHONE 6 LEAK: 5.5-inch iPhone shell shown off in hands-on video
We can finally see it now — the light at the end of the tunnel. The seemingly unending flood of leaks and rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 handsets will, in fact, soon come to an end. Apple is scheduled to unveil one or both new iPhone models next week during a big press conference on September 9th and then we can finally move on… to iPhone 6s rumors. In the meantime, however, we can expect plenty more leaks between now and next Tuesday, the latest of which examines the aluminum housing said to be from Apple’s upcoming 5.5-inch iPhone phablet.

Nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande and others leak in alleged iCloud hack
With just over a week to go until the iPhone 6 is finally unveiled, Apple’s most important product launch of the year, the company may have a major scandal to deal with that’s directly related to its iOS ecosystem. Mashable reports that hackers managed to break into a number of iCloud accounts belonging to certain celebrities, and alleged nude photos and even compromising videos have been posted as a result.

Major card companies are signed on for Apple’s iPhone 6 payments solution
The iPhone 6 is widely expected to include an NFC chip that will enable mobile payments on the device, a move Apple is finally ready for. In addition to leaks that seem to prove the iPhone 6’s hardware will support wireless payments, fresh reports from Bloomberg and Re/code indicate that Apple has recruited the three major credit card providers to back its iPhone wallet plans.

Former Bitcoin coder and ALS patient is now being cryonically frozen
Renowned cryptographer Hal Finney, known for his work on PGP encryption software and on early Bitcoin development, has passed away on Thursday following a five-year battle with ALS – a terrible disease that’s currently enjoying a viral funding campaign thanks to the “Ice Bucket Challenge” meme – but the programmer hoped that one day technology will heal him. According to Wired, Finney has become an early adopter of a kind of tech that’s only seen in movies, human cryopreservation.

Netflix says it lost customers thanks to slow streaming on Comcast
Why did Netflix decide to cave in and pay Comcast for a better direct connection to its network? Because apparently slow Netflix streaming on Comcast was costing the company customers. CNN reports that Netflix this week explained to the Federal Communications Commission that the quality of Netflix streams on Comcast had become so poor that the company had no choice but to pay up for a better connection.

Microsoft might be interested in acquiring the most popular custom Android build ever
Many Android users unhappy with what the mobile operating system has to offer have looked at various custom ROMs based on Google’s latest OS version that offered additional tools to improve their overall mobile experience. CyanogenMod is one such Android-based build that become so popular in recent years that its founder decided to turn it into a business, Cyanogen Inc.
