These days, if you’re looking to capture some extreme sports action, whether it be Base Jumping or even surfing, you’d be hard pressed to find a better solution than a GoPro camera. Indeed, GoPro cameras are seemingly everywhere these days, even showing up during yesterday’s Google I/O presentation in the form of a virtual reality rig comprised of 16 GoPro cameras.
So while GoPro gets the job done today, what did the adventure seekers of yore do to capture their death defying and adrenaline pumping feats of grandeur? Well, they worked with the tools they had at the time and opted to attach bulky and unwieldy cameras to their helmets.

Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht sentenced to life in prison
After being found guilty of seven criminal counts, including drug trafficking and money laundering, Ross Ulbricht, the mastermind behind the illegal online marketplace known as Silk Road, was sentenced to life in prison by Judge Katherine Forrest.

Report may have just revealed Windows 10’s exact release date

The most beautiful Android apps available today, as picked by Google
Last year Google made a big push to improve the overall look of its mobile platform thanks to the addition of Material Design, a slick new design language that added terrific animations and other features to Android. Via 9to5Google, it seems that Google’s Material Design team has recognized 18 different mobile apps for having “best-in-class” designs that take advantage of the new tools Google developed with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Netflix’s popularity is killing BitTorrent
When the iTunes Music Store first launched back in 2003, its success proved that consumers are more than happy to pay for content if it’s a) affordable and b) easy to access. In a similar vein, Netflix is apparently putting quite a dent in BitTorrent, something it’s been doing for a few years now.
A recent report from Sandvine indicates that Internet traffic from Netflix is surging. During peak Internet hours in North America, Netflix is responsible for 36.5% of all Internet traffic. And in step with Netflix’s rise in popularity, we’re seeing a corresponding decline in traffic from BitTorrent.

Revealed: Apple’s plan to leapfrog Google Maps
Even the most hardened of Apple fans has to admit that Apple Maps simply can’t hold a candle to Google Maps. Though Apple’s own Maps app has improved drastically since its 2012 introduction, the software still lacks a number of basic features — such as transit directions — one would expect to see in modern mapping software.
