We can forgive sci-fi movies from the ’50s and ’60s for having terrible special effects. That said, once your get to the ’80s and ’90s, there’s no reason that your movie shouldn’t at least look passably realistic. Sadly, however, that has not universally been the case as even to this day we still see some true CGI stinkers that leave us howling in the aisles.

Set for release on August 28, Narcos chronicles the rise of notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and the U.S. Government’s extensive efforts to bring his reign of terror to an end. At the height of his power, it’s been estimated that Escobar’s cartel was earning upwards of $60 million a day.

The trailer looks pretty cool and further underscores Netflix’s ongoing commitment towards delivering some of the best original programming on the market today.

Meet the new Desire line: HTC’s secret weapon against other budget smartphones

Miraculously shrinking in both size and scale

When I stumbled out of the theater after seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this summer, I couldn’t help but think the stakes had been raised too high. As a Spider-Man and Daredevil fan, I’m better acquainted with villains who don’t immediately threaten to destroy the entire planet, but rather a city, a neighborhood or even just a few city blocks.

Don’t get me wrong — I love a good planetary threat, but the Marvel universe is so much bigger than the Avengers, and Ant-Man is, surprisingly, the perfect vessel to prove that.

Prime Day backlash: The Internet rages after Amazon tries to unload a bunch of junk
