While drones becomes more prevalent, U.S. Army engineers are testing technology that can be used to blast potentially hostile unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) out of the sky. The Extended Area Protection and Survivability Integrated Demonstration program (EAPS ID) at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey has been developing a gun-based solution to defend against C-RAM (counter rockets, artillery, and mortars) technology, according to a U.S. Army press release.

As a depressive Nirvana-loving teenager in the ’90s, Chucks were my shoes. What made them so awesome was that they were both fairly cheap and they never seemed to go out of fashion. When you picked up a pair of Chucks, you knew what you were getting because Converse never bothered to make any superficial design changes to them in a cheap effort to goose sales. Now, however, Converse has decided that Chucks need an update for the 21st century and has given them their first redesign in 98 years.

We’ve written about the Nova Launcher Android app before but this in-depth review from Android Central made us want to plug it all over again. For those of you who don’t know, launchers in general are like Facebook Home but 1,000 times less terrible — they take over your phone’s main home screen and make some great improvements to the design while also giving you added customization options. Android diehards have long had high praise for Nova Launcher, which just seems to get better and better with each new release.

Best Buy finally realized it’s Black Friday in July – here are some of the best deals

Amazon recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a huge Prime Day deals day that generated record sales. Walmart tried to ruin Amazon’s event by launching its own sales, and so did other retailers. Strangely, Best Buy wasn’t one of them.

Now, however, the company is holding a special “Black Friday in July” event this weekend, planning to offer buyers several gadgets at discounted prices. The Black Friday in July Sale takes place on July 24th and July 25th, with deals available in Best Buy’s online store.

NASA: This planet could be ‘Earth 2.0′

Wow. NASA on Thursday announced the discovery of a planet that could be the first found outside our solar system capable of sustaining human life. The planet, which is officially named Kepler-452b, is being described by NASA’s Jon Jenkins as Earth’s “older, bigger cousin” and it is the smallest planet discovered so far in the so-called “habitable” zone in a solar system in which a planet is capable of sustaining pools of water on its surface.
