As Chromecast turns two, Google offers users free movie rental and 90 days of Play Music access
With Chromecast turning two this past Friday, Google was feeling festive and announced a rather attractive promotion for both current and prospective users. From now until December 31, Google is offering Chromecast owners a free movie rental (including HD titles) along with 90 days of free music access on Google Play.

iPod creator Tony Fadell thinks he can save Google Glass
Though Google Glass debuted with a tremendous amount of hype, the futuristic wearable quickly became the butt of a long-running joke about tech products that no one really wants or needs. Like a lot of you, I regularly find ample things to complain about with regards to my wireless carrier — yes, Verizon, your coverage is fantastic but I absolutely despise your data caps. That said, there are times when you do have to step back and marvel at the technological progress that the wireless industry has made in developing powerful, durable LTE data networks that can stand up under a lot of strain.

Pandora CEO: Apple Music has had ‘no impact’ on our business
Since launching a few weeks ago, Apple Music has been subject to both a lot of love and hate. While Apple’s nascent music service gets a lot of things right, the software, both in iOS and on the desktop version of iTunes, remains plagued by an abundance of frustrating bugs and inconsistent UI design choices.
That being the case, it’s perhaps a bit too premature to start wondering whether or not Apple Music has what it takes to put a dent into Spotify and Pandora’s respective bottom lines. With respect to Pandora in particular, CEO Brian McAndrews recently said during an earnings conference call that the threat posed by Apple Music, at this point, is much ado about nothing.

We aren’t exactly thrilled with the first trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs, but thankfully, it isn’t the only Steve Jobs-related movie coming to theaters this year. In fact, Academy Award winner Alex Gibney’s documentary, Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine, is coming to select theaters nationwide on September 4th, a full month before Sorkin’s film.
