There are times when I feel bad about bashing HTC. The company makes some terrific hardware and is filled with smart and talented people who have a passion for designing great products. However, HTC’s latest move to spam users with advertisements in their notifications center is something that is so self-destructive that the company needs to be told that it’s a bad idea.

Apple denies rumor that it plans to become wireless carrier
Yesterday, the Internet was aflutter with a tantalizing report claiming that Apple was actively exploring becoming an MVNO. In such a scenario, Apple would lease spectrum from established carriers and then sell it directly to consumers. In short, the report seemed to indicate that Apple was on a path towards becoming a wireless carrier, an admittedly wild idea that wasn’t completely out of this world given Google’s own MVNO initiative.

Bionic eye implant restores partial vision to woman who’s been blind for years
After 13 years of darkness, Carmen Torres has received a miraculous bionic eye implant that can restore her vision. The device won’t actually allow her to see as she did before the implant, but she’ll be able to discern between light and darkness, something that wasn’t possible for her in the years preceding the intervention.

This new $170 laptop might be the cheapest way to get your Windows 10 fix
Not all the press surrounding Windows 10 has been positive, especially in regards to Microsoft’s tendency to watch everything you’re doing on your new operating system, but the software itself is an accomplishment.
