Google Photos helps exonerate man assaulted by cops
We’ve seen several instances of police misconduct recorded on smartphones. But what happens if you get arrested and the cops seize and conveniently “lose” your phone? That’s what happened to Toronto man Abdi Sheik-Qasim, whom The Toronto Star reports was accused of assaulting two police officers and then exonerated when a short video of his arrest was discovered backed up on Google Photos.

iOS 9 code vulnerability lets hackers steal thousands of dollars worth of in-app purchases
It’s not a trend that gamers are especially ecstatic about, but in-app purchases (IAP) have become a major element of mobile gaming. It’s how many of the biggest games on the App Store stay afloat, but earlier this week, the developers at DigiDNA discovered a coding flaw that could allow hackers to steal thousands of dollars worth of IAP from popular games.

Fresh Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P leaks show benchmark scores
Google’s Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have appeared in numerous leaks, all seemingly confirming the same general picture. LG made the next-gen affordable and reasonably sized Nexus handset (the Nexus 5X) while Huawei was tasked with creating the next-gen high-end Nexus handset (the Nexus 6P).
With just a few days to go until Google’s September 29th announcement event for the handsets, a Geekbench 3 benchmark test has been discovered, further detailing the specs of the Nexus 5X and suggesting the handset will be rather affordable. A similar test for the Huawei Nexus handset is also available, indicating the phone will offer performance on par with the class-leading Galaxy S6.
