Tesla Model S sets new sales record yet again
Tesla over the weekend quietly announced that it delivered 11,574 Model S cars to customers over the last quarter. Note that this figure only covers actual delivers to consumers, which is to say that the overall number of orders might actually be much higher. All told, the record represents a new quarterly sales record for the electric car company, just barely squeeqing by its previous sales record of 11,532 vehicles.
Still, Tesla’s most recent quarter looks especially impressive when we look at year over year growth. During the same quarter a year-ago, Tesla delivered 7,785 cars, which is to say that Model S deliveries increased by an incredible 48%. By the time 2015 wraps up, Tesla is anticipating cumulative Model S and Model X deliveries to check in somewhere between 50,000 and 55,000 vehicles. While this is certainly a lofty goal given Tesla’s previous annual record of 33,157 deliveries, the recently released Model X will undoubtedly help bolster already strong sales.

Apple granted patent for thinner headphone jack; hopefully it never uses it
In Apple’s seemingly endless obsession with thinness, it’s probably fair to say that the existing headphone jack standard remains a thorn in Jony Ive’s side. For as much as Apple can ingeniously shrink down its devices to just a few millimeters, the 3.5mm headphone jack remains a fact of life that Apple must continue to engineer around.
Unless, of course, Apple comes up with a completely new headphone standard.

Despite the fact that the Xbox One is arguably the best console on the market, Microsoft still can’t catch up with Sony when it comes to sales. That’s not to say the Xbox One is floundering, but it became abundantly clear that the company is dedicated to growing its share of the market when it announced six (6) new console bundles this week.

The exact moment when Microsoft’s dominance over the tech world ended
Microsoft is not irrelevant by any stretch of the imagination. However, it’s also not the dominating, omnipotent colossus that it was 10 years ago, when it was impossible to imagine personal computers running on anything other than Windows. Nowadays, of course, personal computing is more than desktop and laptop PCs — it’s also smartphones, tablets and even wearable computers. Andreessen Horowitz analyst Benedict Evans on Friday posted a chart on Twitter that shows us exactly when Microsoft’s time as the tech industry’s dominant player came to an end.

‘The Martian’ director Ridley Scott explains his Mars fascination
The sci-fi adventure “The Martian” has landed in theaters starring Matt Damon as an astronaut forced to find ways of surviving on Mars solo after being left behind by his crew. The film is based on the popular book by Andy Weir and provides many science based explanations of how he could live on the red planet.
When FoxNews.com spoke with Director Ridley Scott at the Toronto International Film Festival we asked him about this Mars fascination. “I think because Mars really is the nearest planet, you discount the moon, which is only five days away, five days flight,” he said. “Mars, according to where you are, is between 50 million and 130 million miles away, according to its trajectory. After that, you got to learn to hibernate for years and you got to fly at the speed of light to get to the next planet. You’d be flying for 40 years.”
