In what seems like a blink of an eye, Netflix managed to became an absolute juggernaut in the media space. Once a niche purveyor of DVDs, Netflix today has over 65 million subscribers across the globe.

Not everyone, though, is on board the Netflix bandwagon. Quentin Tarantino, interestingly enough, isn’t impressed. In an excerpt from the book I Lost it at The Video Store: A Filmmakers’ Oral History of a Vanished Era, the famed director explained said that he’s an old-school kind of guy who prefers watching movies via tangible media.

New Microsoft technology might bring Windows 10 to Android phones

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a seemingly strange partnership with Xiaomi for beta testing Windows 10 mobile. The company proved that it can easily install a Windows ROM on an Android device, suggesting in the future it might decide to compete against Google this way. Rather than launch new Windows hardware, Microsoft might one day provide just the software that would make possible installing Windows on any Android handset.

The software maker has yet to confirm such plans, but the company is toying with technology that will let users boot two operating systems on smartphones and tablets, something that’s not yet available on any device.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign hasn’t exactly gone as she’s planned so far, as she’s had to spend a lot of time discussing the scandal surrounding the private email server she used while she was Secretary of State instead of discussing what she wants to do if she gets elected president. Saturday Night Live this week poked fun at Clinton by recruiting her to play a bartender serving booze to comedian Kate McKinnon, who portrayed… Hillary Clinton.

Earlier today, Interbrand released its annual ranking of the world’s most valuable brands, with Apple securing the top spot for the second year in a row. Without anyone to depend on but himself, astronaut Mark Watney is going to find a way to survive on Mars… even if it kills him.

Reading the synopsis for The Martian, you might think that Ridley Scott wanted to direct his own version of Gravity — another movie about an astronaut doing everything he can to survive in the desolate, uncaring void of space.

But here’s the big difference between Gravity and The Martian: where Sandra Bullock was pitted against the dangers of space, Matt Damon has to learn to coexist with it.
