Samsung’s profits have been shrinking recently but the company says that trend is about to end… and it’s due in no small part to the success of the iPhone 6s. The Wall Street Journal brings us word that Samsung has “estimated its third-quarter operating profit rebounded sharply from a year earlier on robust sales of chips and displays used in mobile phones and other gadgets.” While this rebound in profits is certainly welcome news for Samsung, it must be a little bittersweet given that its reversal of fortune in large part from selling components to Apple and to rival Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

Anyone who used an iPhone 6s after the iPhone 6 can easily tell you that the speed difference is easy to see. The new Apple smartphone is faster than its predecessor by a considerable margin, and benchmark scores have indicated the phone can be as fast as the new Retina MacBook, leaving the main rivals from the competition in the dust.

However, Samsung is working on a new processor of its own, which will likely debut on the Galaxy S7 next year, and a first benchmark for it has already been leaked. According to it, the new Galaxy phone might be even faster than the iPhone 6s.

Disappointed that the world escaped the impending doom it was supposed to hit Earth back in May 2011? Not to worry, you still have a chance to experience a doomsday in your lifetime, assuming the most recent prediction is true: the end is near, and it’s happening on Wednesday, October 7th.

Of course, that might not actually happen – after all, not all doom predictions come true – in which case this will be just a regular Wednesday, and I’ll see you all tomorrow. Whatever happens, at least we got to see Microsoft’s “ultimate” Surface Book laptop come to life.

On the fourth anniversary of Steve Jobs’ death, ABC News obtained a never-before-seen video of Jobs which depicts a somewhat rare look at the former Apple CEO’s softer side. The video was provided by Apple and is perhaps intended to counteract some of the more negative depictions of the Apple co-founder that we’ve been seeing as of late in films such as Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine.

In the video below, filmed before a gathering of Apple employees the day before the iPhone was officially unveiled, we see a smiling and laid-back Jobs casually talking about his personal theory of business management, the iPhone, and even why he was prone to wear ripped jeans.
