VR on a roller coaster might sound unnecessary, but these videos will change your mind
I have spent a fair amount of time inside virtual reality this week, and if you’ve read my preview of the HTC Vive, you already know that I’m a fan of the technology. That said, when I started hearing about VR being used on roller coasters, I couldn’t help but think it sounded a bit superfluous.

Meet the Japanese heavy metal girl group that took Colbert by storm this week
I try not to form stereotypes about other cultures but… well, there’s not denying Japan produces some really, really weird popular culture. Japan’s penchant for weirdness was out in full force this week when Japanese heavy metal girl group Babymetal went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week and ripped into their new single “Gimme Chocolate.” The result was as bizarre as you’d expect.

Apple wouldn’t make a redesigned 4-inch iPhone, so these guys built the ‘iPhone 6 SE’
Although the iPhone SE is on track to be yet another massive hit for Apple, it’s not what every potential buyer was looking for out of a new 4-inch device. The iPhone SE turned out to be little more than an iPhone 5s with upgraded internal components, lacking any distinct design alterations.
It’s hard to be overly enthusiastic about a new phone that looks like an old phone, but that’s exactly why Computer Bild’s iPhone 6 SE is such a fascinating project.

The dawn of VR gaming came and went without a great deal of fanfare. Sure, every technology blog on the internet is excitedly declaring virtual reality to be the next big thing, but the average consumer (or even the average gamer) simply doesn’t have the hardware to run a game in VR.

Elon Musk says Tesla will fix what critics call the Model 3’s ‘biggest design fail’
With more than 325,000 reservations to date, it’s overwhelmingly clear that the Tesla Model 3 has what it takes to become a mainstream success, provided of course that Tesla can actually get its manufacturing capabilities to keep pace with demand. While prospective buyers have overwhelmingly indicated that they approve of the Model 3’s design and feature-set, Tesla’s highly anticipated EV isn’t entirely flawless. At least not yet.
As we highlighted previously, the lack of an instrument cluster on the dashboard has some potential buyers worried. One can only hope that a HUD option will be available by the time the car is released in late 2017. Another commonly levied concern about the Tesla Model 3 is that the car’s trunk design leaves a whole a lot to be desired.

Samsung’s exciting new idea could succeed where Google Glass failed
Google’s failed failed first attempt at wearables sounded very exciting at first, though it soon became apparent Glass would not be the hit product the company may have envisioned. Not only was it an expensive prototype during its limited release, but it was also met with huge privacy-related backlash.
Samsung, on the other hand, seems to have the right idea of how to build this kind of product.

“I believe good design is about finding beauty — an emotional connection with the consumer.”

Honest ‘Force Awakens’ trailer stomps all over your childhood Star Wars memories
Against tremendous odds, Disney managed to revitalize the entire Star Wars franchise in one fell swoop. The Force Awakens wasn’t perfect, but it felt more like a Star Wars movie than any of the prequels had, and gave us a whole cast of new characters to root for in the coming years.
But that doesn’t make it immune to criticism.
