A video of DC’s biggest mistakes shows why they might never catch up with Marvel
Marvel and DC have competed at comic book shops and newsstands for decades, but the stakes are higher than ever as the two brands compete at the box office.
With marketing and promotion included, the production budget of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was likely north of $400 million, which makes its impressive $860 million worldwide haul slightly less impressive. But failing to hit $1 billion isn’t the biggest mistake DC has ever made.
In fact, it’s not even close.

If there’s one thing that Stephen Colbert is proud of — more so than his shows, his books and possibly even his family — it’s his love of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
A self-proclaimed Tolkien nerd, Colbert rarely went a week on The Colbert Report without finding some way to tie Middle-earth into one of his segments, but years later, it’s coming back to bite him.

ISIS launches an official Android app for kids (yes, really)
The sadistic Islamic fundamentalists who run Islamic State are some of the absolute worst people in the world… but that doesn’t mean they can’t have soft spots in their hearts for children. Well, at least when it comes to indoctrinating children into their violent and twisted ideology.
Long War Journal brings us word that Islamic State’s “Library of Zeal” has developed its own Android app to help teach children the Arabic alphabet. But since this is ISIS we’re talking about, the app also teaches children the Arabic words for weapons including tanks, guns and rockets.

Watch this train driver save his passengers from a certain crash
Trains take a long time to stop, so if a driver sees an obstacle — say, the back of a truck — in the tracks, there’s not much they can do about it. Unless you’re this quick-thinking Polish train driver, whose timely warning saved his passengers from near-certain injury.
As the BBC reports, the train was traveling at 68 mph when the driver saw a lorry stuck in a crossing. With the three seconds he had available, there was no way he was going to stop. Top Gear has previously demonstrated in graphic detail how far it takes a passenger train to perform an emergency stop, so it’s fair to say this lorry had no chance.

The Turing test has always been an approximate benchmark for good AI. In the test, a human is supposed to converse with a machine over text for five minutes; if the human doesn’t realize that they are talking to a machine, then the computer passes as AI “indistinguishable” from human intelligence.
How about a computer that tricked hundreds students for an entire semester?
