Google is going all in on virtual reality, and we saw the early stages of its plan for VR domination take shape this week at the annual Google I/O developer conference. The company covered plenty of bases during its big keynote event on Wednesday — check out the 8 most important announcements from Google I/O 2016 — but VR was absolutely one of the biggest. In fact, the entire event was streamed live in 360-degree video so that anyone with a VR headset anywhere in the world could follow along as if they were sitting right there in the audience.

The company’s mission is clear: Google wants to own VR. Android is clearly the proper tool for the job, and now another piece of the puzzle is falling into place. YouTube, the second most popular website in the world (behind Google.com), has an official VR experience in the works and we just got our first look at it.

Remember the MIT’s RoboBee? The initiative kicked off a couple of years ago, aiming to fix a major problem that we currently have: the bee population is slowly dying, and without bees, we’re pretty much doomed. Last fall we learned that researchers from Harvard created an insect-size robot that can both fly and swim. And now we hear that MIT and Harvard researchers have partnered up to create a RoboBee that can perch.

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There’s no denying that Tesla is an incredibly forward-thinking and innovative company that’s made some big changes to the status quo. As a direct result, Tesla is a beloved company with an adoring and exceedingly passionate fan base. But there’s only so much crap even the most passionate fans will tolerate, and with Tesla anticipating rapid growth into a much cheaper market, its quality control issues need to be sorted out — fast.

Banks are helping hackers pull off the perfect heist

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

News broke in February that hackers were able to steal no less than $81 million from the Bank of Bangladesh in what MANY described as a perfect heist. Well, maybe it wasn’t perfect, as a silly spelling mistake prevented the culprits from walking away with nearly $1 billion. But the sophisticated attack worked almost flawlessly as the hackers were able to take advantage of the backbone of financial transactions, after infiltrating the bank’s systems.

It turns out that the Bangladesh attack wasn’t an isolated event. Hackers have attacked other banks as well in the past using the same methods. New reports show that some of these attacks could have been prevented, but only if only banks were willing to share more details about these attacks with the SWIFT organization. Apparently, the financial institutions aren’t just worried that they’re going to lose the trust of customers, but also that they might generate additional inquiries into their security systems from local regulators. And nobody wants that.
