Samsung TVs are already some of the most popular options for high-end home theater systems, and the company is now using its television-making prowess to help people with disabilities live more normal lives. A new project by a Samsung team in Switzerland could yield the first smart TV that can be controlled with thoughts.

As CNET reports, Samsung has partnered with Swiss scientists to bring the system to life. Called ‘Project Pontis,’ the ultimate goal is to build a brain/software interface that will allow individuals with movement disabilities to control television features like channel switching and volume control with their brains rather than their bodies.

One of the most interesting shifts in the Netflix library over the past couple of years has been the influx of original films. We’ve become accustomed to the countless original series that launch every month, but Netflix has doubled down on feature-length projects in recent months, and as I was putting together this list, I was struck by just how many movies are hitting the streaming service this week alone.

The highlight of the bunch is undoubtedly The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which is an anthology of six short films from the Coen brothers all set in the Old West. Other than that, we also have the latest season of Narcos, and the well-reviewed horror movie Green Room, starring none other than Patrick Stewart.

The nation’s capital is without question one of the most negative cities in the world. You’d certainly have an anecdotal basis for thinking that by just turning on the news every night, watching representatives of both major political parties go to war with each other — as well as with the president — day in and day out. But our basis for that statement is a bit more analytical, thanks to the folks at Smart Destinations who’ve created something called The Emoji Cities Tool. Basically, it’s a fun way to study Twitter data and emoji use to zero in on what the most positive and negative cities are around the world. Also, what they’re tweeting about, and if you were so inclined to know, what emoji they most frequently use. (Spoiler — the most-used emoji around the world is the laughing face with tears. The least used? The thinking face.)

Apple launches repair program for iPhone X units with faulty displays

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Though not a widespread problem by any means, some iPhone X users over the past few months have experienced issues with non-responsive and temperamental displays. In light of this, Apple today launched a new replacement program for iPhone X users who have encountered this particular touch issue.

Per an Apple support document, impacted devices tend to exhibit one or two behaviors. Specifically, impacted iPhone X units will either not respond to touch at all or will react even when not touched. Either way, it’s undoubtedly a frustrating usability issue, especially for a device that was priced in excess of $999.

This incredible underwater hotel will set you back $50,000 per night

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are lots and lots of fancy hotels around the globe, but if you want to spend an evening below the sea, your options are pretty limited. The private Conrad Maldives Rangali Island just opened what it calls the world’s first underwater hotel, and it is an incredible place which can actually fulfill that desire.

The hotel is called The Muraka, which Designboom points out means “coral” in the native Dhivehi. When you book a reservation, you get the entire villa, which features floors above and below the water line. Up top you can enjoy a luxurious living area and exterior porch with attached pool, but the real fun starts when you dip below the waves of the Indian Ocean.

Finally, The Girl in the Spider’s Web also launches this weekend, which is probably a must-see for anyone who’s seen the first film or read the famous books. Plus, The Crown and First Man star Claire Foy is in it.
