Fleshy, gelatinous blobs are invading the Maine coastline
There are lots of interesting things to see if you stick your head under the ocean waves. There’s neat fish and crabs and, well, a whole bunch of other magical creatures. That is, unless you’re taking a dip below the surface off the coast of Maine, where you’ll instead be greeted by an army of weird blobs that shouldn’t actually be there.
A local news outlet Bangor Daily News reports, the strange flesh-colored gelatinous blobs are creatures known as “sea squirts.” There are many different species of sea squirts — officially called tunicates — but the ones that have taken up residence off the coast of Maine happen to look like rotten pancake batter. Neat!

NASA thought it got a signal from the silent Opportunity rover, but it broke our hearts again
NASA’s Mars Opportunity rover has been sitting still on Mars since June. It was then that a massive dust storm began to swallow up the planet, cutting of the sunlight to the rover’s solar panels and forcing it to go dormant. The Opportunity team has been waiting patiently for the rover to wake back up ever since, and when a signal identified as coming from Opportunity popped up on NASA’s Deep Space Network on Thursday it got a lot of people very excited.
Unfortunately, the signal, whatever it was, didn’t actually come from the troubled robot. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory quickly addressed the supposed communication, noting that “further investigation” revealed the signals weren’t actually from Opportunity at all.

Watch Russia launch an ISS cargo ship live today
It’s been a strange few months for Russia’s space program. First, a strange hole showed up in a Soyuz spacecraft attached to the International Space Station and then a last-second abort due to rocket failure prevented a pair of new ISS crew members from reaching their destination. Russia is pretty sure it has everything sorted out now, which is great news, and today the agency gets back on schedule with the launch of a resupply mission to deliver supplies to the space station.
A rocket launch is always a neat sight to see so, as always, NASA will be taking the opportunity to live stream the event online for all to watch.

The Apple Watch wasn’t the first smartwatch to hit the market, but there’s no question whatsoever that it’s the most successful. In fact, Apple is now the #1 watch maker in the world, having surpassed every other brand including Rolex. The Apple Watch is quite pricey compared to the competition though, and it’s certainly not for everyone since it isn’t even compatible with Android devices!
