%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung’s first foldable handset had its soft launch a few days ago, and the phone should hit stores at some point in the first half of 2019. The Galaxy F (image above) may not be a phone for everyone, especially considering its sky-high price, but the handset is Samsung’s most ambitious and exciting smartphone project to date. And that phone will have some serious competition next year, including a device that you’re probably not going to find in US stores.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you may get to see ‘Aquaman’ early

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The next addition to the DC cinematic universe is set to hit theaters in the US a few days before Christmas, but Amazon Prime members are reportedly going to get a shot at seeing it early.

According to Screen Rant, members of Amazon’s Prime subscription service will be able to attend screenings of Aquaman a week before the US release at participating theaters, including ArcLight, Bow Tie Cinemas, Cinepolis, Regal Cinemas, Showcase Cinemas and Studio Movie Grill. Per Screen Rant, the movie represents DC’s next shot at trying to win the love of fans, even though reaction to DC movies generally pales in comparison to releases from Marvel. Which is why a move like this might be a smart play to excite fans early.

Here’s now NASA said goodbye to the Kepler space telescope

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA was forced to plan for the inevitable death of the exoplanet-hunting Kepler space telescope a few weeks ago. The spacecraft, which had already discovered literally thousands of new planets, ran out of fuel and couldn’t continue its science observations. Now, NASA has finally said goodnight to its trusty telescope.

In a new post NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory explains what it had to do to officially send Kepler out to pasture. Believe it or not, it’s actually a bit more complicated than just flipping a switch.

As we enter the second half of the month, the list of highly-anticipated content hitting Netflix has shrunk significantly. That’s not to say this coming week will be empty — far from it. The week of November 18th will bring subscribers new seasons of original series The Last Kingdom and Frontier, as well as both seasons of the Sky One sitcom Sick Note, starring Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead).

Other highlights include a new stand-up special from The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, a documentary about Pixar, and a Mystery Science Theater 3000 six-movie marathon that might just kill the hosts.

Here in my neck of the woods — the South — we got our first snow flurries this week. You know you’ve officially entered old man territory when you find yourself grumbling that it’s too early for this wintry stuff — a sentiment helped along by the fact that we’ve had an atypically warm fall in some areas this year. Which can make the arrival of the first snow flakes of the year an unwelcome arrival, indeed.

A dog changed this man’s life, then he made the most life-affirming Netflix show of 2018

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Glen Zipper had a life-changing moment back in 2003, when he was working as a criminal prosecutor and somewhat adrift, not happy with his career. He met a dog — a skinny canine named Anthony, with patches of hair missing that got taken to a local shelter. Anthony never left his mind, from the minute Glen first laid eyes on him.

He ended up calling the shelter to check in on him, found out he was due to be euthanized, so the then-prosecutor rushed to the shelter, and everything changed. Inspired by the volunteers taking care of dogs, he decided to become one himself. He started volunteering, and his newfound love of man’s best friend eventually gave him an idea. In a world as divided as the one we live in today, why not tell a series of stories about one of the few things everyone can agree on — namely, how much we all love our fluffy, four-legged companions.

This week has seen a ton of warm remembrances and goodbyes to Stan Lee, an icon of pop culture who died on Monday at the age of 95 after a decades-long career creating some of the most enduring and popular franchises in the history of the entertainment industry.

One of those goodbyes you may have missed, though, comes from none other than Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin — whose first written work, it turns out, was a letter printed in a “Fantastic Four” comic book (the one where the foursome met Prince Namor) when he was just 13 years old.
