Nest’s Learning Thermostat and Nest Cam are at all-time lows for Black Friday
Well what do we have here!? Nest products are the best in their respective smart home categories, but they’re also typically quite expensive. That’s why Black Friday deals on Nest products are always hotly anticipated, and Amazon just kicked off a killer sale on Nest’s two most popular products! The insanely popular Nest Learning Thermostat sells for $250, but you can get one right now for just $179. Meanwhile, the $200 Nest Cam Indoor is on sale for $129. These prices will likely be good throughout the entire Black Friday weekend, but there’s a definite chance one or both will sell out. In other words, get a move on!
Nest Learning Thermostat
- Works with Alexa for voice control (Alexa device sold separately).
- SAVE ENERGY WITH NEST: Nest introduces the 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat. With four beautiful colors to choose from and an easy to read display, this thermostat will help make your home not only smart but energy efficient. With just a few manual adjustments, the Nest Thermostat can learn your habits and start to save you money by automatically adjusting the temperature.
- READ THE DISPLAY FROM ACROSS THE ROOM: The Nest Thermostat does something new. It’s called Farsight, and it lights up to show you the temperature, weather or time. You can even choose a digital or analog clock face. Farsight is big and bright on the beautiful display – you can see it from across the room.
- A STYLE FOR EVERY HOME: The Nest Learning Thermostat now comes in four fantastic colors; Copper, Stainless Steel, Black, and White. Choose copper to add a warm touch. Stainless steel is perfect for a classic, versatile look. Black blends in with dark walls and stylish decor. And white looks great in simple, modern homes.
- WORKS WITH NEST: Nest has worked hard to design thoughtful devices to help keep you safe and secure. Nest devices not only communicate with each other but also with the other smart devices around your home. Your Nest Secure can use your smart light bulbs to help get your attention in the event of an emergency; your smart washer and dryer can take the data from Nest and run the next load of laundry when energy demand is low. Look for the Works with Nest badge and let Nest handle the rest.
- THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE A NEST HOME: We love home. It’s the best place in the world. But not everything inside our homes is lovable. Some things beep at us; fail without warning; keep us in the dark. There are things we’ve learned to ignore. We think these things should do more. Nest is focused on making simple, human, delightful things. That’s how we’re creating the thoughtful home: A home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it.

- DON’T MISS A THING WITH NEST ALERTS: Whether the kids just came home from school or the dog has decided to eat those new pillows you just bought; the Nest Cam sees it all! Get alerts through your Nest App whenever the camera detects movement and activity. And the coolest part is that the Nest Cam can tell the difference between movement from say a hand getting into a cookie jar, and a person entering a room. Person Alerts and Activity Alerts can help keep your home safe even if you aren’t there.
- BE HEARD WITH NEST: Nest Cam Indoor has a built-in speaker and mic, so you can hear what’s happening at home. Or tell the dog to get off the couch.
- SET IT UP ANYWHERE: The compact size of the Nest Cam makes installation a breeze. Nest Cam Indoor’s stand works in all kinds of homes, on all types of surfaces. Set it down on something flat, like a table or shelf. The Nest Cam has a built-in magnet so you can stick it to something metallic. Use the removable wall plate to attach Nest Cam to a wall. Or you can unscrew the camera from the base and attach it to any standard tripod mount.

Samsung early next year will launch five flagships, including four distinct Galaxy S10 flavors and the first-ever foldable phone. While there are plenty of reasons to get excited about Samsung’s flexible phone, it’s the Galaxy S10 that should impress you the most. A few new leaks seem to suggest that Samsung is indeed getting closer to making the smartphone we’ve always wanted.

HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel won’t have any Targaryens or dragons
We still don’t know a lot yet about HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series, other than that it’s going to be set 5,000 years in the past, long before the events and characters we’re more familiar with in the current hit show. But it’s to be expected that details are still slim at this point, since we still haven’t even seen the final season of Game of Thrones which won’t be back until April of 2019 on HBO.
Nevertheless, details are starting to leak out about the prequel, created by Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin, and it looks like it won’t feature several familiar elements, including Targaryens, and maybe even dragons.

Scientists spot brain-destroying proteins in the eyes of infected patients
A recent study into a particularly deadly brain disease now shows that doctors may be able to detect its presence just by looking at a person’s eyes. Even scarier, the eyes of an infected individual could potentially act as a transmission point to spread the disease, for which there is no cure or effective treatment.
The ailment is Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), and there’s also a variant called sporadic CJD. Modern medicine has no answer for it and, while rare, it’s a death sentence for anyone diagnosed with it.

Samsung’s most exciting smartphone will have a new version of its least exciting feature
Samsung doesn’t yet know if it’s going to brand the next generation of its virtual assistant as Bixby 3.0. The South Korean-based tech giant is, however, planning to include that new version of Bixby in its foldable phone.
That’s according to Samsung vice president Eui-Suk Chung, who leads research and development related to software and Bixby for Samsung’s mobile business. SamMobile reported the news as part of its coverage of Samsung’s Bixby Developer Day, which has been under way in South Korea.
