People say Bose’s new wireless earbuds really do help them sleep better
There are so many products out there that claim to help you sleep better and it seems like most of them don’t work very well. In fact if you’re like me, you’ve probably tried so many that didn’t work at all that you gave up hope. There are some products out there that work really well for some people though, and the Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds are among them. These true wireless earbuds might look like they’re meant for music, but they’re actually meant to mask noise so you fall asleep faster and stay asleep. We’ve talked to a bunch of people who say they work wonders, and they’re available right now on Amazon.
Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds: $249.00
Here’s what you need to know from the product page:
- Noise-masking sleepbuds are the latest Bose innovation. They use engineered soothing sounds to cover up unwanted noise — like snoring partners and noisy neighbors — so you can fall asleep, and stay asleep
- They may look like tiny headphones, but instead of streaming music, the sleepbuds play pre-loaded soothing sounds for sleep and relaxation
- Super-tiny sleepbuds stay comfortably in place all night long, even if you sleep on your side. Choose from three included eartip sizes for the best fit
- Although Bose pioneered noise cancelling technology, its research found noise masking is the better option for sleep
- Rechargeable battery provides up to 16 hours of use for deep, peaceful sleep
- The sleepbuds work exclusively with the Bose Sleep app so you can control and customize how you sleep. Select your soothing sound, control the volume, set an alarm, and even choose how long you want your sleepbuds to play
- Compact and convenient storage case keeps your sleepbuds safe, charged, and ready for next time. Provides one additional charge without having to plug it in
- Your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) must support Bluetooth Low Energy (also called Bluetooth Smart) to work correctly with the Bose noise-masking sleepbuds. Apple devices with iOS 10 or later are compatible, and most devices with Android 5.0 and newer versions support Bluetooth Low Energy

Android P just arrived, but a new leak suggests Android Q is already being tested
We’re just a couple of months into the public rollout of Android 9.0 Pie, but the first hint at the future of the mobile OS might have leaked online this week. Spotted by Mr Gizmo Blog, a recently uploaded benchmark for the Google Pixel 3 XL on Geekbench indicates that the device is running Android Q. Google has yet to make the next major Android version official, but it looks like it might already be in some phase of testing.
The rest of the benchmark appears to be in line with what we’ve come to expect from the Pixel 3 XL: the same specs, the same model, and the same single-core (2404) and multi-core (8510) scores. The only noteworthy difference is the operating system, which reads Android 9 in virtually every other Geekbench test.

New study reveals secrets of Mars’ strangest moon, Phobos
Of all the moons in our solar system, the Martian moon of Phobos might be the most interesting. It’s not a near-perfect sphere like most of the moons we see, and it almost looks like an overgrown asteroid just kind of hanging out in orbit around the Red Planet. It’s also covered in craters and huge depressions, and long grooves that stretch almost its entire length.
Researchers have long wondered what caused those large valleys to form, and what kind of force it might have taken to blanket Phobos in such a strange pattern. Now, new research published in Planetary and Space Science may have finally solved that riddle, and it all comes down to some very large rocks.

Astronomers spot a thick cloud hovering above extinct Martian volcano
Mars is a dry, dusty planet that looks like a lifeless ball of rock in just about every image we see. Thick cloud cover isn’t something we’re used to seeing on the Red Planet but new imagery from the European Space Agency shows a miles-long cloud sitting in place above a geographical feature that has been dead for millions of years.
The cloud was spotted hovering over the Arsia Mons volcano. Oftentimes if you see thick plumes over a volcano it’s a sign of volcanic activity, if not an imminent eruption, but Arsia Mons has been extinct and silent for tens of millions of years. So, what’s the deal? ESA thinks it has the answer.
