Netflix has had a banner year in 2018 when it comes to original content. The nation’s favorite source of streaming entertainment added hundreds upon hundreds of hot third-party titles to its catalog this year, adding more and more value as the months flew by. Of course, original content continues to be Netflix’s main draw and the service did not disappoint in 2018. In fact, it might’ve been Netflix’s best year so far when it comes to original series and movies, and the company racked up a record number of awards as a result.

2018 might be coming to a close, but Netflix has no intention of slowing down in 2019. The company has a slew of great content set to premiere next month in January, and we ran through all of it last week — check out the full list of additions right here. Since original content is always the biggest deal when Netflix announces its new schedules each month, we wanted to take a moment to separate out all the new Netflix originals set to premiere in January 2019 so you can easily find them all in one place.

Highlights from the Netflix original content set to be added to the company’s catalog next month include season 3 of A Series of Unfortunate Events, which hits Netflix in its entirety on January 1st, as well as the second half of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 4 and a new season of Grace and Frankie. What will likely end up being the final season of Marvel’s The Punisher also debuts next month, though a firm release date hasn’t yet been announced.

Huawei just unveiled its first phone with a design like the Galaxy S10

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung a few days ago launched the Galaxy A8s, its first phone to feature the Infinity-O screen design that’s coming to the Galaxy S10 next year. Infinity-O is a marketing term designed to explain the design of an all-screen smartphone that has no bezel or notch at the top. Instead, a camera hole punches through the display, with the screen extending from corner to corner, around the camera, and almost entirely down to the bottom corners. And Huawei’s new Nova 4, which was featured in rumors and teasers in the past weeks, happens to have a hole that’s even smaller than Samsung’s.

If you’re not posting as many status updates these days, Facebook is hoping it can at least convince you to open the app and watch some TV. Maybe even pay for some.

2018 has been a a busy year for Facebook’s still-nascent efforts around streaming original programming a la Netflix, which is another way of saying the social networking giant’s still got a long way to go before it’s seen as having the same cachet as its much more established streaming competitors. Nevertheless, Facebook is pressing on, with a slew of new headlines around its Facebook Watch service that even include the possibility of Facebook selling you an HBO package that you could watch through the app.

Hubble spots a distant planet that is literally being vaporized

%name Articles of Interest by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We usually think of planets as having a certain level of permanence but for worlds that reside within very close proximity of a star existence can be fleeting. One particular type of exoplanet that astronomers are trying to learn more about are the so-called “hot Neptunes,” which are superheated giants that are incredibly rare.

Now, researchers using the Hubble Space Telescope have pinpointed what they believe to be a planet just on the cusp of being considered a “hot Neptune,” and it’s so close to its star that the planet is actually evaporating right before our eyes.

Most everything begins to slow down the week before Christmas… but not Netflix! This week is as busy as any, from major arrivals to difficult departures all week long. This is an especially good week if you’re a fan of anime, as Baki, LAST HOPE: Part 2, and Sirius the Jaegar will all join the streaming content library by Friday.

Other highlights include The Theory of Everything and a new Ellen DeGeneres comedy special, but there are sadly a few notable movies leaving as well, such as Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Moana.
