Chrome will finally take on sites that try to block you from using the back button
The internet is a dangerous place. If you aren’t careful, you could end up downloading an unwanted file, opening an infected email, or seeing something you desperately wish you could unsee. But the ways in which bad agents change how we use the internet aren’t always so obvious or destructive. Sometimes, the issue can be as simple as not being able to back out of a website with the back button, forcing us to close the tab entirely to escape.
If you’ve never experienced this phenomenon (lucky you!), here’s how it works: You search for something on Google, click a link, and realize the site isn’t for you. You click the back button on your browser, but nothing happens. You click again — still nothing. Only after mashing repeatedly will you finally be returned to the original Google Search page (or, in all likelihood, several pages before that, because you clicked too many times).

You can now watch Pixar’s heartbreaking short film ‘Bao’ for free
Earlier this year, Pixar released a poignant, stunning short film called Bao alongside the equally fantastic Incredibles 2. It was the first of Pixar’s countless shorts to be directed by a woman, and tells the story of “an aging Chinese mom suffering from empty nest syndrome” who gets a second chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings suddenly comes to life. Rather that eat the dumpling, she ends up raising it as her own child.
Pixar’s shorts always seem to have a lesson to impart upon viewers, but Bao takes its time developing the story until a shocking twist gives way to the true meaning of the short. Bao accompanied Incredibles 2 throughout its theatrical run earlier this year, but if you happened to miss it, Pixar just uploaded it to YouTube.

This incredible sound wave system can make particles levitate
We’ve already seen sound waves do some pretty amazing things. For example, they can turn a regular, boring stream of water into a mesmerizing work of moving art, and even cause small particles to float in mid-air. Now, researchers have developed a powerful sound wave system that not only causes objects to seemingly defy gravity, but also allows each particle to be manipulated independently for the first time.
The system, which the scientists have called “Holographic Acoustic Tweezers,” is detailed in a new paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, but a video showing the technique in action is probably the best way to understand its capabilities.

Netflix is testing a new subscription plan priced at $3 a week
About a month ago, we told you that Netflix was testing a brand new subscription tier, a mobile-only plan that would allow users to sign up for the popular streaming service for just around $4 a month. That plan was being tested in Malaysia, but that’s hardly the only test Netflix has been conducting recently. New Netflix users signing up for the service in Austria just discovered a brand new option with weekly payments priced as low as €2.49 ($2.83).

AT&T just launched a 5G mobile network you won’t use anytime soon
AT&T on Tuesday announced it’s the first carrier in the US to launch “a mobile 5G device over a commercial, standards-based mobile 5G network,” as its 5G network went live in several US cities. However, you can’t use it for the time being, and you’ll have to wait until later this week to get your hands on a 5G mobile device. It won’t be a smartphone though, or anything else you might actually want to buy.

Bose makes wireless earbuds that help you sleep better… and people say they really work
What if we told you that one of the best pairs of earbuds you can buy from Bose don’t even play music? You might think we were crazy at first, but we’re talking about the Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds. There is no such thing as a single sleep aid that works for everyone but a whole lot of people are finding success with these nifty earbuds. They feature a cord-free design that stays comfortably in your ears all night long, and they mask all of the noise around you so you can enjoy uninterrupted sleep. If you’ve been looking for a sleep solution that really works, this might be the answer to your prayers.
Bose Noise Masking Sleepbuds: $249.00
Here are the highlights from the product page:
- Noise-masking sleepbuds are the latest Bose innovation. They use engineered soothing sounds to cover up unwanted noise — like snoring partners and noisy neighbors — so you can fall asleep, and stay asleep
- They may look like tiny headphones, but instead of streaming music, the sleepbuds play pre-loaded soothing sounds for sleep and relaxation
- Super-tiny sleepbuds stay comfortably in place all night long, even if you sleep on your side. Choose from three included eartip sizes for the best fit
- Although Bose pioneered noise cancelling technology, its research found noise masking is the better option for sleep
- Rechargeable battery provides up to 16 hours of use for deep, peaceful sleep
- The sleepbuds work exclusively with the Bose Sleep app so you can control and customize how you sleep. Select your soothing sound, control the volume, set an alarm, and even choose how long you want your sleepbuds to play
- Compact and convenient storage case keeps your sleepbuds safe, charged, and ready for next time. Provides one additional charge without having to plug it in
- Your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) must support Bluetooth Low Energy (also called Bluetooth Smart) to work correctly with the Bose noise-masking sleepbuds. Apple devices with iOS 10 or later are compatible, and most devices with Android 5.0 and newer versions support Bluetooth Low Energy

How the new ‘Spider-Man’ movie ruined ‘Avengers: Endgame’ for Marvel
There’s a reason why Marvel Studios can’t do whatever it pleases when it comes to using Marvel superheroes in blockbuster movies like the Avengers franchise films and other movies in the MCU. It’s because it doesn’t have the rights to use all of these heroes whenever it pleases. That’s why Deadpool isn’t part of the MCU, and why Spider-Man took its time to arrive in MCU films. The deal for having Spider-Man in the MCU didn’t come without headaches, and you’ve noticed one of its side-effects without realizing it: Spider-Man 2 ruined Avengers: Endgame for Marvel, and also for some of Marvel’s fans.
