Amazon is still offering a rare discount on Apple Watch Series 4, and $50 off Series 3

A Christmas miracle: Galaxy S9 gets Samsung’s official Android 9.0 Pie update
When Samsung rolled out the Android 9.0 Update beta program for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones, featuring the brand new One UI user interface that will power Samsung’s foldable smartphone and other Android devices, we thought the final release would be rolled out only at some point in January. But Samsung has a big surprise for its customers, whether they’re beta testers or not: The official Android Pie release for this year’s Galaxy S flagship is available to download.

Prediction: As shows continue to leave Netflix, some people will return to DVDs
Next year is going to be pretty interesting for Netflix subscribers, to put it mildly. According to analytics firm Jumpshot, more than half of the streaming giant’s 50 most-popular shows are licensed from companies like NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia that are planning to start streaming services of their own.
That’s potentially bad news for Netflix users who are also fans of its top licensed shows like The Office and Grey’s Anatomy. Because since everyone from new streaming upstarts to industry stalwarts like Disney are planning to launch Netflix rivals in 2019, that means they might be inclined to yank their popular titles from Netflix. And if they don’t, they’ll no doubt charge Netflix a pretty penny to keep them there.

Here’s why Amazon’s Alexa says random creepy things like ‘kill your foster parents’
At this point, it seems clear that Amazon executives don’t get bent out of shape when they hear about the Alexa digital assistant blurting out weird, creepy things like “kill your foster parents,” as it did for one user who left an unsurprisingly critical review about Alexa, explaining what happened.
He called that foster parents comment “a whole new level of creepy,” which led to an analysis that found a bot was spurring Alexa to quote a Reddit post without any introduction or context.
Ok, but still.

Google now has a fun ‘Seinfeld’ themed Easter egg you should try
Google loves a good Easter egg, and with the holiday season in full swing, the search giant resurrected a fun little surprise that you may remember from previous years. If you open up a new tab in your web browser of choice — it doesn’t have to be Chrome — and type in ‘Festivus’ into Google, you’ll see an aluminum pole positioned on the left-hand side of your browser.
Yep, it’s a Festivus pole, an homage to the famous — and dare I say, overrated — Seinfeld episode where we learn that Festivus is a holiday invented by Frank Costanza, George’s dad. The holiday, if you need a refresher on the episode, is celebrated with a “feats of strength” competition, an “airing of grievances”, and lastly, an aluminum pole which George’s father claims was chosen for its “very high strength to weight ratio.”

Hubble snaps gorgeous image of epic ‘holiday wreath’ in space
Science never stops for NASA but while space observation and research continues regardless of the season or special occasions, the space agency still likes to celebrate holidays in its own unique way. Last week, NASA took the fast-approaching holiday as an opportunity to show off a very special snapshot captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.
The image provides a view of a distant star known as RS Puppis in all its glittery glory. The star and the massive cloud of dust that accompanies it, forms what NASA suggests is a “holiday wreath” of sorts, but this is a photo that even Scrooge could appreciate.

Here are the most Googled queries in each state around Christmastime
The Christmas holiday is a time of gift-giving, family get-togethers, and singing carols. We get time off from work, we get to spend time with the ones we love, so no wonder this time of year tends to bring out the best in people — as well as spur people to ask some pretty unusual questions via a a Google search. That’s according to a new state-by-state roundup of what the top Google searches are around the country during the holidays, a roundup put together by the team at SatelliteInternet.com.
The results, suffice it to say, are interesting – and might surprise you. For example, the top Christmastime Google Search query in the Lone Star State is “Is the Grinch real?” (Texas, you guys ok?) Over in California, it’s “Is Starbucks open on Christmas?” In Florida, it’s simply: “Amazon.com.” There are lots of family-friendly searches in the middle part of the country, with searches about everything from Christmas lights to “Family activities.”

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Dec. 23)
Merry (week of) Christmas, everyone! As you might expect, the list of arrivals on Netflix this week is a bit shorter than usual, but there are still a few prime additions worth queuing up. First, we’ve got Avengers: Infinity War — one of the biggest movies of the year and is sure to be one of the most-streamed non-holiday movies on the service over the next few weeks. Plus, we all need to refresh our memories before Avengers: Endgame next year.
Other highlights include the eleventh season of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, The Magicians season 3, and a really great new anime called Hi Score Girl. There’s only one departure, but it’s a pretty notable one: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. I’ll be watching this one before it vanishes.
