Microsoft reportedly launching 4K webcams for Windows and Xbox One in 2019
Microsoft is reportedly set to expand its hardware portfolio in the new year, as Thurrott claims that the company is working on multiple webcams for 2019. At least ones of the webcams is said to bring Windows Hello authentication to Windows 10, which will be the first time the feature has been included on a standalone camera. As Thurrott explains, the only cameras that have included the functionality so far are built into Surface PCs.
The webcam will also be compatible with Xbox One consoles, possibly bringing back one of the features that made the Kinect such an intriguing peripheral. With the new webcam, all you’ll have to do is walk in front of the camera to sign in, as it will have the ability to recognize your face (along with multiple other users).

Video: Watch a Tesla on Autopilot slam on the brakes and avoid a crash
More often than not, stories involving Tesla’s Autopilot feature tend to make the news when something goes awry. Whether it’s a Model S on Autopilot crashing into a stationary car or a Tesla on Autopilot almost careening into a highway divider, there’s no question that activating the feature still requires drivers to pay close attention to surrounding road conditions at all times.
All the same, Tesla’s Autopilot feature has improved considerably over the past few years. And truth be told, there are many instances where Tesla’s Autopilot feature works exactly as designed. The only thing is, we don’t often hear about the crashes Autopilot prevents, unless of course it happens to be caught on video.

An asteroid shaped like a giant hippopotamus just flew by Earth
The holiday season means seeing friends and family that you might not see all that often throughout the rest of the year, and the same is apparently true for astronomers studying asteroids. In a rare appearance that won’t happen again for over 400 years, a truly bizarre asteroid made a relatively close flyby of our planet just in time for some holiday dinner.
The rock, known as 2003 SD220, is shaped like a hippo. The rock, which estimated to be over one mile in length, looks like an oversized hippopotamus, complete with a distinct ridge that forms the ears and head of the rocky beast.

Possible iPad mini 5 case leak might reveal new design and features
Late last week, a report from China Times claimed that Apple will finally revive its iPad mini line in 2019 after leaving it dormant for the past three years. According to the source, the iPad mini 5 will begin production soon, and is expected to ship in the first half of 2019, but no details about the tablet’s design or features were revealed.
That may have changed over the weekend, though, as another leak from China alleges to show off a case for the new iPad mini. IT Home’s photos indicate that the iPad mini 5 will retain the headphone jack, could have stereo speakers and an improved rear camera setup, and should feature a similar design to that of the iPad mini 4.

Uranus was slammed by an object twice the size of Earth
It’s been a big year for Uranus. We’ve learned quite a bit about the planet thanks to new research efforts aimed at explaining why it behaves dramatically different when compared to the other planets in our system.
Back in July we learned that the planet’s bizarre rotation — it spins at a nearly 90-degree angle to our Solar System’s other worlds — was likely caused by some kind of incredible impact a long time ago. Now, a new study out of the UK is supporting the collision theory and provides a video of just how such a crash might have looked.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors confirm an exciting detail from the film – and upcoming heartache
Avengers: Infinity War is undoubtedly one of the biggest things that happened this year, the culmination of a decade of Marvel movies, and a movie that features a great cliffhanger that perfectly sets up the sequel. Avengers: Endgame will bring us some sort of closure, as we expect the remaining Avengers to regroup and take on Thanos in an effort to restore order and bring back the half of the universe that turned to dust in Infinity War, including all the fallen heroes.
Marvel, Disney, and everyone involved in the making of the film have been pretty secretive about the movie so far, and we don’t expect the plot of Endgame to leak ahead of its release in late April. But the Russo brothers who have directed a few MCU movies to date, including Infinity War and Endgame, have finally confirmed an exciting detail about the film. And, as expected with their Marvel films, they teased more heartache that lies ahead.
