Every single person with an Apple TV should also have this $18 accessory
One of the reasons media streaming dongles are so popular is because they don’t take up any space. Instead, they plug into HDMI ports on the back of a TV and stay hidden while you browse and stream. Apple doesn’t make a dongle like Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and the Roku Streaming Stick, but there’s a low-cost accessory that can accomplish the same thing with the Apple TV. The TotalMount Apple TV Mount attaches to the back of your flat screen TV so you can tuck it away securely out of sight. It’s such a great accessory that it probably should’ve come with your Apple TV to begin with.
TotalMount Apple TV Mount – Compatible with all Apple TVs including Apple TV 4K: $17.99
Here are some highlights from the product page:
- Mount for Apple TV (Apple TV and remote not included)
- Perfect for wall-mounted televisions (Attaches Apple TV to the back of your television)
- Compatible with all Apple TVs (including the new Apple TV 4K and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Apple TV generations)
- Includes many premium, patented features
- Includes three mounting options: innovative hooks for TV vents, special adhesive for elevated TV temperatures, and screws for wall mounting

Video game industry veteran may have some great news about the PS5 and next-gen Xbox
Microsoft has struggled to bring exclusive games to the Xbox One on a consistent basis since launch — one of many factors which opened the door for the PS4’s dominance — but there are still a number of ways in which the Xbox One outperforms its rivals. Chief among them is the system’s ability to play a growing selection of Xbox 360 titles through its Backward Compatibility feature, which neither the PS4 nor the Nintendo Switch possess.
But as we approach the next generation of consoles, gamers are curious about whether or not game companies will continue to prioritize access to older titles, or allow them to be played on new machines. We won’t know the answer for at least another year or so, but at least one game industry veteran believes they will.

Elon Musk suggests the first ‘resident’ of Mars might be an AI
There’s been plenty of talk lately about future missions to Mars that will carry human crew members. It would be an incredible achievement to successfully (and safely) land a human on the surface of another planet, but it’s something that has never even been attempted, much less accomplished.
With a steady stream of advancements in AI technology and robotics it’s not entirely out of the question that the first “resident” of Mars might actually not be a human at all, but a machine. One inquisitive Twitter user decided to ask Elon Musk what his thoughts were on the first Martian being an intelligent machine rather than a human.

Instagram’s horizontal swipe mess happened because everyone loves Stories so much
If the furor that erupted over Instagram’s botched test this week that inadvertently became a wider update of the app taught us anything, it’s this. The Facebook-owned photo-sharing service would presumably never admit this, but the interest in exploring a limited experiment of replacing the vertical scrolling feed with a horizontal, Stories-like progression of content is no accident. The introduction of Stories has been a resounding success for Instagram, for all the reasons that are evident — everything from their ephemerality to the creativity they unleash in users via everything from GIFs to stickers, music and more.
All of which is to say: In all likelihood we got a taste of Instagram’s future this week, and maybe even a hint at why the app’s co-founders left abruptly under a bit of a cloud a few months ago. It’s quite possible, in other words, that the feed’s days are numbered. And it’s thanks to the fact that we all apparently love Stories too much. Which is another way of saying, we love swiping horizontally through Stories too much.

Disney just let a huge ‘Captain Marvel’ spoiler slip out
Captain Marvel will be the first Marvel film launching next year, and we already have a couple of trailers for the movie that will introduce a new key member of the Avengers team, a character who is expected to play a huge role in Avengers: Endgame. But while we’ve known for quite a while that Brie Larson plays Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the film, we had no idea what Jude Law’s role might be. We’ve seen rumors saying that he’s playing Mar-Vell, as well as stories saying that he’s actually playing a villain named Yon-Rogg. As with other MCU movies, both Marvel and Disney try to protect spoilers from leaking out ahead of the film’s release, but it looks like Disney messed up this time and accidentally revealed Law’s character.

‘Infinity War’ was just as heartbreaking as Marvel wanted, but there’s hope beyond ‘Endgame’
Avengers: Infinity War has the best ending one could ask from the first episode in the epic two-part Avengers series. By allowing Thanos to complete his Infinity Stone quest in the first film and snap his fingers to kill half of all living things in the universe, Marvel made sure that all MCU fans would talk about that epic cliffhanger for months. In a new interview, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that the company had been working on this particular Infinity War ending for years and that the ending was exactly what the company wanted.
While it’s unclear what Avengers: Endgame will bring, we do suspect most of the dead heroes will return to life. And even though the Endgame ending might still deliver some more heartbreak, as we’ve come to expect from Russo brothers’ creations, there’s still hope beyond the next installment of the Avengers saga.
