Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Jan. 13)
We have good news and bad news for Netflix subscribers, but we’ll start with the good news: A bunch of new shows are coming to the streaming service this week, including Carmen Sandiego, Trigger Warning with Killer Mike, and the Golden Globe-winning American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
Unfortunately, we’re also losing four major blockbuster films this week, most notably Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. That’s quite an exodus for a single week, but thankfully they also represent the final departures of January, as nothing else is leaving this month.

The International Space Station will release its SpaceX cargo ship this weekend
Both SpaceX and NASA are eager to get the Dragon cargo spacecraft back to Earth now that it has fulfilled its duties in bringing much-needed supplies to the crew aboard the International Space Station. The ship was originally expected to be released from the ISS earlier this week but plans have since changed, and NASA now expects the space station to bid farewell to the Dragon on Sunday afternoon instead.
Prior to this latest change, the most recent schedule would have seen the ISS release the Dragon on Sunday morning, but now NASA says it wants to release it later due to some weather quirks back on Earth.

The best-tasting protein bars on the planet are on sale at their lowest price ever, today only
The word “best” gets tossed around willy nilly these days, and it’s gotten to the point where it has sort of lost its meaning. Rest assured, however, that when we use the word “best” in association with Quest Hero Bars, we mean it in its most literal sense. They’re the best. Period. The end.
Amazon is having a big one-day sale on all sorts of different Quest bars and protein powder on Sunday, and you can shop the full sale right here on Amazon’s site. But if you ask us, your full attention should be focused on three different products. The Quest Nutrition Blueberry Cobbler Hero Protein Bar and Quest Nutrition Chocolate Hero Protein Bar are far and away the best protein bars we’ve ever tasted — and we’ve tried a whole lot of different protein bars. A third flavor, Vanilla Caramel, is also on sale today. While we’ve never personally tried it, we’re sure it’s just as good.
These protein bars use allulose for sweetener, which tastes exactly like sugar but isn’t metabolized by the body so it doesn’t have any of the calories you get from sugar. 10-count boxes typically cost between $20 and $27 on Amazon, but today they’re on sale for as little as $9.94. Trust us, you had better stock up because once you try these bars you’ll never be able to eat anything from any other brands.
Quest Nutrition Blueberry Cobbler Hero Protein Bar, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Soy Free, 10 Count: $10.94
Quest Hero Bar, Chocolate: $10.93
Quest Nutrition Vanilla Caramel Hero Protein Bar, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Soy Free, 10 Count: $9.94
Here are some details from the product page:
- Each Blueberry Cobbler Hero bar features a white chocolate protein coating, deliciously sweet and gooey blueberry-flavored filling and the satisfying chewiness of a Beyond Cereal Bar at its core.
- 17g Protein, 4g Net Carbs, 13g Sugars, 10g Dietary Fiber, 170 Calories, 7g Fat
- Sweetened with Erythritol, Sucralose and Allulose. Allulose is a low calorie monosaccharide that contributes 0.4 calories per gram. There are 12g of Allulose in this product which contributes less than 5 calories per bar
- Contains Cinnamon and Natural Flavors, No Gluten Containing Ingredients
- Includes 10 Quest Blueberry Cobbler Hero Protein Bars
Quest Nutrition Blueberry Cobbler Hero Protein Bar, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Soy Free, 10 Count: $10.94
Quest Hero Bar, Chocolate: $10.93
Quest Nutrition Vanilla Caramel Hero Protein Bar, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Soy Free, 10 Count: $9.94

Apple’s AirPower charging mat will reportedly start shipping soon
It wasn’t all that long ago that Apple enthusiasts would mock companies like Microsoft for announcing seemingly cool products that never shipped on time, if at all. Oddly enough, Apple over the past few years has fallen into the same bad habit of introducing products that ship embarrassingly behind schedule. Apple’s AirPods, for example, shipped more than two months later than expected and, upon actually launching, were incredibly hard to find.
The most egregious example of an Apple product that didn’t ship on time is of course Apple’s wireless charging mat, a product dubbed AirPower. Originally introduced in September of 2017 alongside the iPhone X, AirPower is designed to let users wirelessly charge their phone, Apple Watch, and AirPods case all at the same time. Flash forward 16 months and AirPower is still nowhere to be seen. What’s more, we haven’t heard a peep about the product from Apple, leaving many to wonder if it would ever launch or if Apple perhaps scrapped it entirely.

On the 20th anniversary of ‘The Sopranos,’ we’ve got new details about the movie prequel
“You’re one in a million, you’ve got to burn to shine / But you were born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes.”
It first aired 20 years ago this week, and after all this time it’s safe to say The Sopranos remains a boundary-pushing cultural force of nature, the effects of which can still be felt in the prestige storytelling and dark drama of series that followed in its wake up to and including Game of Thrones.
You read enough stories about innovators, risk-takers and people with insane dreams, and common threads start to emerge. They decided to take a chance, they got in early on something good before it was much of anything at all — like Sopranos creator David Chase did back when his manager first urged him to consider working on something for television. And specifically HBO, when it was still mostly known in the late ’90s for boxing, movie reruns and The Larry Sanders Show.

Here’s an exciting ‘Avengers: Endgame’ theory that might actually come true
Marvel has plenty of heroes, all featuring special qualities and powers that can be used for good and evil. And plenty of them are already worthy members of the Avengers team, or are about to join the team of heroes that’s in charge of Earth’s defense. But just because we have so many heroes doesn’t mean they’re all-knowing. Some of them might not have any idea who the other Avengers are. Similarly, the Avengers don’t always know whether new people with superpowers are good or bad. That’s why the following fan theory might actually come true when Avengers: Endgame premieres this April.

New ‘Captain Marvel’ clip and all the other movie trailers you need to watch this week
We’ve got quite a few interesting premieres this week, although none of them are going to be huge blockbusters. We’re looking at The Upside, a film that pairs Kevin Hart with Bryan Cranston; A Dog’s Way Home, which needs no explanation; and Keanu Reeves’ Replicas, which is a sci-fi crime story. Streaming fans should know that the second season of Netflix’s Friends From College is out this weekend too.
And while the past few days brought us the 2019 Golden Globes and a new Captain Marvel extended TV spot, we don’t have too many new trailers this week. Instead, we’ve got plenty of clips for upcoming Netflix attractions. But things will pick up soon and, hopefully, the trailer we’re all waiting for will drop.

HBO may reveal the ‘Game of Thrones’ premiere date this weekend
Winter is coming, and apparently so is the reveal of the exact day when Game of Thrones is finally going to return to the small screen for the premiere of its eighth and final season.
If you want to find out when we get to see the long-awaited conclusion of the epic fantasy series about the seven kingdoms of Westeros and who will finally sit on the Iron Throne — turn on HBO around 8:50 p.m. eastern or so this Sunday, January 13. Right before True Detective kicks off its third season at 9 p.m. If we’re really, really lucky, maybe we’ll even get some new footage or a trailer, though it’s just as likely HBO will want to prolong the excitement and not reveal everything all at once. Keeping back some footage, in other words, for a separate reveal.
