The iPhone’s most sophisticated feature will hit more Android phones this year
When the iPhone X launched in late November 2017, we expected Android vendors to quickly copy the phone’s new features. That ended up being true, to some extent, but most iPhone X clones last year only replicated the notch design of the phone, not the notch itself. In it, we have the various components that make 3D facial recognition possible, and only a couple of companies released phones last year with Face ID-like functionality.
Several reports in early 2018 revealed that Apple had secured a supply of Face ID parts for the iPhone, or the components that delayed the iPhone X’s launch to November. Analysts then said that Android phone makers would need two years to catch up to Apple when it comes to Face ID support, and it sure looks like that prediction is coming true: A report says that we’ll see more Android phones with Face ID-like features starting this year.

A magnet bouncing on a trampoline is way more interesting than it sounds
Magnets. How do they work? The good folks over at the YouTube channel Magnetic Games know exactly how, and they do all kinds of neat videos showing off how magnets can be used for entertainment. As Laughing Squid discovered, their latest video is a real doozy.
You should all know by now that magnets have what is known as a magnetic field surrounding them. It’s the invisible force that makes magnets attract or repel, and other materials like metal react to it. The only problem is that you can’t really see it… or can you? To find out, Magnetic Games dropped a couple of ultra-strong magnets on a tiny trampoline covered in magnetite sand, and then filmed it in super slow motion.

This $15 portable mini tire inflator is a must-have in every car
Driving around without a DBPOWER Portable Mini 12V Tire Inflator in your car or SUV is basically asking for trouble. This affordable little gadget makes it insanely easy to top up your tires when pressure gets low, and that’s especially important now that temperatures are dropping across the country. Aside from the fact that driving with your tires filled to the recommended PSI is safer, it also helps improve gas mileage. That’s a win/win if we’ve ever seen one.
DBPOWER Portable Mini 12V Tire Inflator, Auto Air Compressor for Cars, Bikes, Motorcycles and I…: $14.99
Here’s some more info from the product page:
- 【VERSATILE AND USEFUL】 This mini-sized DBPOWER tire inflator is a very useful tool to have in your car or garage. It’s so compact then it can be held in your hand. Designed to inflate tires for cars, bikes and motorcycles, it can be use with an array of other inflatables thanks to the 3 nozzle adaptors included. It’s a great companion to have with you on the road, on a trip, or vacation.
- 【EASY AND FAST TO USE】 It may be compact, but it is not lacking in inflation power! It will inflate a standard mid-sized car tire from 0-35 psi in 10 minutes. You may be thinking this is not that fast, but considering this pump can fit in the palm of your hand, it’s a pretty impressive speed. Simply plug into a car cigarette lighter socket, start inflating and manually turn off the compressor once the desired pressure has been reached.
- 【COMPACT SIZE FOR EASY STORAGE】 One of the best benefits of this tire pump has to be its size. Designed small and light, it can easily be held with one hand. This makes it great to use for inflating smaller items such as sports balls. It really doesn’t take up any space at all and can easily be stored in places such as a glovebox or under a car seat.
- 【LONGER POWER CORD】 The charging cable is 3m long enabling you to reach all four car tires of even longer model cars without difficulties! Don’t be inconvenienced or annoyed again by those inferior air pumps that can barely reach the back tires!
- 【BUY WITH CONFIDENCE】 All customers are backed by our 12-month “No Questions Asked” warranty. Tech support and professional customer service are available should you have any problems.

T-Mobile promises the Sprint merger won’t drive up prices… for now
Now that the government has officially reopened and the review process for T-Mobile’s proposed merger with Sprint has presumably picked back up, CEO John Legere decided to take this opportunity to reach out to Chairman Ajit Pai and the FCC to plead his case for the merger to go through “expeditiously.”
In a letter to the FCC on Monday, Legere attempted to counter one of the main arguments against the merger — that as soon as T-Mobile absorbs Sprint, competition in the market will decrease and rates will go up. According to Legere, not only is this not the case, but he claims that rates could actually drop post-merger.

A big leak probably just revealed Samsung’s Galaxy S10 preorder date
Samsung will announce its new Galaxy S10 phones on February 20th during its first February Unpacked event that will take place in San Francisco rather than Barcelona, Spain. That way, Samsung is beating all its competitors’ announcements by a few days, many of which have scheduled new product unveilings on February 24th, a day before Mobile World Congress kicks off. Ever since Samsung issued invitations for the press conference, we’ve suspected that Galaxy S10 preorders would start soon after the launch event. Now, thanks to a big leak, it looks like we have an exact date.

Facebook Messenger will finally let you unsend your messages
One of the countless Facebook scandals to come to light in 2018 was that of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s ability to delete messages that he had sent. Once the story began to spread, Facebook confirmed that the CEO’s messages expired after a set amount of time, explaining that this was a security measure in response to the Sony email hacks of 2014. Within hours, Facebook announced an unsend feature was in the works for users as well.
Nearly a year later, work on the feature appears to be complete, as Facebook revealed in a blog post on Tuesday that all users now have the option to remove messages that they’ve sent on Messenger, whether it was to a single person or a group of people. The feature is available now on both the iOS and Android apps.
